.32 H&R coming back to the J frame - Ultimate Carry by Lipsey

Im going to at least get at least one of each. If Darryl Bolke and Lost River Ammo are involved you can guarantee its going to be right. Heck aside from the one with the D&L sights Ill probably sell my scandium titanium 342 38s and move into these.

That's just great! I made a New Years resolution to not buy anything new and shoot the ones I have more. Temptation and it's still January. I wonder about production numbers and how hard they will be to get.

This is one of the only times I've ever been excited for the release of a J-frame. No lock, better sights, an enclosed backstrap boot grip, chamfered cylinder holes from the factory, and chambered in 32 H&R with a six-shot cylinder? Every single aspect of this is an absolute home run. I don't even especially like J-frames, and I'll be picking up a stainless 32 H&R model as soon as I can get on a waitlist or find one available!

A Lipseys' rep has posted elsewhere today that they are trying for the same or similar models in the K frame, but that may be next year. I'm very happy about these new UC J frames, but I'm ecstatic over the idea of a similar K frame.
Come on Model 12UC!

I would spend concerning amounts of money on a K-frame with the same feature set of these new J-frames. Hell, give me a steel frame, no lock, and a 7-shot, 327 Magnum cylinder, and I won't be able to get my wallet out fast enough.

I am that guy. This is the first of many projects. The things that were critical on this will be with everything. No lock, sights that are functional, reliable, and efficient for the mission the gun is intended to fill. I cannot reference the entity we created that is doing the consulting and training stuff on this forum, so my posting will be extremely limited if any, but we do have a very in depth understanding of what is needed to make solid revolvers.

Words could never describe how thankful I am that your input/advice was heeded. It's amazing what a company can accomplish when they actually listen to the want-lists of their informed aficionados and enthusiasts clamoring to give said company their money. Those critical aspects of this project (better sights, 32/327, no lock) will hopefully someday be seen across the S&W wheelgun lineup. I'm thankful that increased competition in the revolver space these days probably pushed S&W to be a little more receptive to change.

I'm all in on that .32. I don't own anything in that caliber, but plan on remedying that situation!

Agreed. LuckyGunner put out a great video a couple of years ago that makes the point that 32 is one of the best calibers for a snub-nosed revolver. I'm looking forward to seeing how comparable recoil is to 38 Special/+P. That extra round in a J-frame cylinder is a game changer. (Well, as much as the extra round when the original J-frame 327 Magnum came out was.)

I am hoping lock equipped version will be released for these.

Not a fan of deleting safety features. Those with little ones will understand.

I've become interested in the .32 S&W Long and .32 H&R Mag cartridges recently and was thinking about getting a Taurus 327. I would prefer to get this new S&W offering but I have a question. If I am unable to get one from Lipsey's for whatever reason. Will S&W be offering them as well and if so, does anyone have a thought on when that might occur?

No need for an unsightly internal lock for that purpose. Simply use the included cable padlock that's in the box of every S&W revolver, or use an actual lockbox/safe and don't leave the gun lying around. Both of those accomplish the same things without afflicting the gun directly.

I knew if I left my 432PD and 640 Pro Series next to each other in the back of the safe long enough that something good would come of it!

Probably isn't a scandium frame and doesn't have the strength.
I think .32 H&R is at the same pressure as .38 Spl+P.

SAAMI max pressure, in CUP, (no PSI standard set for the 32 H&R) is 21K for the 32 H&R and 20K for 38 Spcl (+P).

Recoil, or performance, wise I can't see much full-tilt performance difference between a 100gr 32 H&R & a 110gr 38 Spcl (+P) from a 2" bbl J-frame.

The better sights are definitely welcome & the extra round is good but I'm fine carrying mild 357s in my J-frame so I think I'm good with what I've got.

.

The 327 Federal has a 45K psi SAAMI max (no CUP standard set) pressure. I doubt the blast from it in a J-frame would be much better than from a 357.

I'm interested into why S&W would work with another distributor like Lipsey. I thought they dropped all that with the Talo line and made it their own. What gives?.......

Do you recall where the lipsey's rep posted this?

When I started down the 32 road I bought boxes of 500 32 long and H&R brass. I also managed to collect up a bunch of loaded327 ammo. The regular 32 brass is hardest to find, but I had manage to get some of that when I was messing around with a couple 32 top breaks.

Major thank you goes out to Nyeti. Refreshing to have a knowledgeable end user get involved in a project like this from the ground up. I have read a lot of Nyeti’s post on Pistol Forum but I’m embarrassed to admit I didn’t realize he was a member here. Absolutely some of the best information I’ve read on the use of the snub nose comes from Darryl and I highly recommend reading/following his stuff. Darryl you most certainly are “the guy.”
