At least one news article reported that murders and shootings dropped across New Jersey in 2023 compared to 2022:northjersey.com

Although it cannot be demonstrated that thousands and thousands of carry permits issued to ordinary citizens in New Jersey post Bruen caused shootings and murders to go down—It is irrefutable that turning New Jersey “Shall Issue” did not cause shootings and murders to go up.

Despite the cries of the left claiming that allowing lawful citizens to own, carry, and use firearms for self-defense resulting the the streets turning into rivers of blood, the result is always the same. When the law abiding are armed, the criminal activity declines. Criminals might not be Einsteins, but they don't want to be injured or killed while trying to commit a crime.

Detroit claims that the homicide rates are the lowest in years. Of course, there's no body left to shoot. Entire city blocks are vacant and most of the perps are moving to border line suburbs where the homicide and shooting rates have increased dramatically.
But hey, were not supposed to talk about that.

The NJ article quotes officials patting themselves on the back and crediting their hard work and “programs” for the “gun violence” reductions, which started in 2022. No mention of Bruen, decided in June 2022.

Seems to me the criminals are smarter than the government officials.

Somehow the real message never gets out - Guns don't kill people, gun laws kill people.

I don't know why Mexico isn't the poster child for why gun laws don't work. Despite being one of the least permissive places in the world that hasn't actually banned private gun ownership, their murder rate is something like 5 or 6 times higher than in the US. Meanwhile, they have 1 gun store in the entire country and private citizens can only buy a limited selection of guns in a limited number of calibers (no "military" calibers in private hands). Yet the story is how Mexico's problem is America's fault because so many guns in Mexico are made in the US. Apparently the border is porous in both directions.

The crusade for the disarming of Americans was never about reducing crime:

We will never know statistically in Jersey, or anywhere for that matter, the positive effect of legally carrying a firearm. I would suspect the simple act of discreetly brandishing one to a bad guy (although illegal) would account for many thwarted assaults.

I would argue that the NJ statistics completely encapsulate the benefit of lawful concealed carry.

The down turn in “gun violence” began in 2022. No month given, but Bruen dates to June 2022.

Who needs a porous border when you have the ATF and Fast and Furious?

It being New Jersey, perhaps people are watching the "Sopranos" and learning how to deal with these situations. In the episode "The Knight in White Satin Armor" Janice Soprano shoots her boyfriend Richie after he punches her.
She doesn't call 911, she calls her brother. Then there's how they deal with Big *****.
