Say Cheese

....
Here is a picture of the new types that I found to try out.
It should be interresting.

I will post later on my taste ratings.

I'm curious what you like to have with the cheese - Saltines, sliced apple - what kind, some other kind of cracker, artisan bread?
Do you cut the cheese into chunks, or maybe slice into thin pieces, sorta like a potato chip, with one of those European cheese peelers?
I'm no connoisseur, but I do love some good cheese and would appreciate any suggestions.

I love most all cheeses. But my go to favorite is Tillamook Sharp White Cheddar. Give it a try, if you can find it. Not sure about their coverage.

If on a road trip I like to keep a dry bag with Saltines, sardines, nuts, dried fruit and such. I've heard an aged cheddar travels well without refrigeration. Anyone have an experience with any type of cheese in a vehicle for a day or three, maybe exposed to heat?
I'd have to be desperate to use Easy Cheese.

Back in the Day down South Country Stores would have Hoop Cheese.
That's a big circular Cheese about 2+ feet round sitting on a guillotine type cutter.
The country lunch might consist of some cheese, baloney, crackers and a Soda like a RC Cola.
This cheese would be sitting in the heat sweating just like the rest of us!
I think I recall it was prone to dry out if sliced and carried around very long in the heat.

Shouldn't you have gotten them some Holly Water, a Bible, and any book by Rush Limbaugh instead of cheese for the move to Austin?

A necessary stop coming back home from Wisconsin.

Probably the only place you can get 14 year old aged cheddar. It's excellent- too good in fact to be put on a cracker.

During my time behind the counter I sold a lot of single guitar strings. I stocked up on .016 and .018 gauge strings as that's what the local diners and delis used to cut cheese.

BTW I currently have a block of Velveeta in the fridge.

Way back in my Puppy Dog Days I attended AF Basic Survival School.
Lurked around for a week in the Tahoe National Forest.
We were given rations from the Worldwide Survival Kit.
Chocolate Bars. Sorta like baking chocolate.
Not Bad!
Fruitcake Bars. Yes!
Cereal Bars. When dissolved in hot water, They had that kind of hot glue taste. Drink with some instant coffee, Not a bad way to start a day in deep snow!
Then there were those Cheese Bars. Don't recall anybody who liked them.
Would have loved to have been at the meeting when they decided to put them in our Kits!

I thought of this when I read this BBC article on the new Yorkshire Dales Edition of Monoply:
"...As well as the squares, all the playing tokens are customised including a Craven Ram, a miniature dry stone wall, a slab of Wensleydale cheese, a pair of walking boots, a cricket bat, and a bicycle.

Throughout the game, players can also be penalised for 'wild camping', while others can be rewarded for 'quality sheepdog trials'...

in downtown Madison Wisconsin there was a little shop called Fromagination... a wonderful little place for those that appreciate the fermented curd... kept feeling like a Monty Python sketch could start at any minute..
