The best carry J Frame

The new 632-UC and 432-UC take the crown for me. Six shots of an effective caliber in a J-frame, and with great sights, no lock, chamfered charge holes, among other excellent features? Count me in.

If I am going inside or outside the waist band I will carry my M60. If going pocket carry it’s either my M340 M&P or M43c. The M43c I usually pocket carry when I’m doing yard work. I will have 4 rounds of snake shot and 4 rounds of Federal punch.

My EDC is a square butt model 37 snubbie. I carry it in a leather Cobra ankle holster most of the time. Other times I carry it in a Left Hand lightweight Uncle Mike's pocket holster in my inside vest pocket

One day my wife came home with s&w edc kit that had a 360 J solid cylinder 357mag and some nice looking wood grips and that not stay on long before a hogue mono grips replaced it. Great carry snubby but with normal 357mag ammo it is not even a good short range handgun after the first 5 rounds so it carrys 38+P or speer reduced 135gr gd . But it is a Best J Frame Carry handgun as this tread is titled .

If ether of us spend time shooting a revolver it will be a Dan Wesson 15-2 357mag 4" not a snubby .

Model 37/637. Just light enough to sit in a pocket all day without the feeling you need to constantly hike up your trousers, and I like an external hammer on a sidearm. 5 148 grain wadcutters on board, and 5 110 grain Critical Defense in a speed loader or speed strip.

This may not be the “The Best Carry” J frame, but one of the best ways to carry a model 60. Not sure what it was/is called, but it was made by Pachmayr, maybe in the 80’s. Very hard to find today, I’ve had it for at least 20 years. I carry it in my car, wrapped loosely in a cut in half black sock. Works for me.

I like adjustable sights on any handgun I carry. The 1st pic below is of my current carry piece, a M60 with a 3" bbl. and of course adj. sights; along with the M63 that I use for cheaper practice.

I've appreciated the full lugged bbl., and all steel construction that make a sizeable difference in the M60's (and my) ability to control recoil with my carry loads: Speer .38 Spl +P, 135 gr GD's. Magnums are just too much of a good thing for follow up shots IMHO, and, too, the shorter brass makes for easier, positive ejection with the full length ejector rod.

BTW, my wife has carried her 3" bbl'd M36-6 for the past 32 years (2nd pic) with confidence. For the most part she has it in her purse, but does on occasion use an OWB holster.

Best regards, Rod

For me the model 38 has filled that role though my RB, 3” standard barrel model 36 may take its place.

I've been looking at those for years and have asked several folks on here about them over time. I then found out about the 642, 442UC and the 632, 432UC and studied up on them. I ultimately purchased the 432UC. I think it's the best thought out and executed snub offering to date.

I really enjoy mine too!

I would love to find a 64 Snub. Every One I’ve seen, which are none local, is priced higher than I’d like to spend.

The prices I see on them have me think that I'd just buy a new Model 66 instead of those 64 snubs, at least without being able to handle them first.
