We live in Helotes, a far NW suburb of San Antonio, we are about 350 ft higher elevation than most of SAT, and sort of in the Hill Country. At 2:00 pm the official temperature within Helotes is 105 degrees with a heat index of 112. Thankfully, it is sort of a dry heat, because our humidity is down to 27%.

Actually it is a typical August day in Texas. Texas gets hot don't ya know. I would not have it any other way. After all that is why they invented central AC, and our attic has 45r of insulation. :-)

It's been unseasonably cool here in Michigan for the middle of August. I had to put on long pants and a sweatshirt this morning. I'm not complaining!

We've had rain regularly and I haven't had to turn on the sprinkler system yet this season. Our lawn looks like the rough at Augusta and needs to be mowed every 3 or 4 days. If these weather patterns continue into winter, my snowblower will get a heck of a workout.

108°F, 6% humidity, heat index 101°F. Looks like we have lost the monsoon. Central HVAC with R49 in the attic.

Right now on my lanai with the ceiling fan on high. I call it a screened in patio, but everyone around here call them lanai for some reason.

Strange, lanai is Hawaii speak for porch. I know, I was stationed there for 2 1/2 years. Yet, you are in Florida. Have you been invaded by swarms of folks from Hawaii?

If I heard lanai in Vegas I wouldn't be surprised at all. They call our city 'The Ninth Island'.

We had the actual temp at 102 with a heat index of 112 this afternoon here South of Houston, pretty much just a typical August day in Texas, I am looking forward to a slight cool off come October

This morning on the weather channel they mention Wisconsin & Michigan had places in the mid 30s overnight.

Seems a bit early for that.

It's after 9:00 and it's still over 90 degrees here in Houston. The good news is the humidity is down to 52%! Two days ago it was 100 degrees with 80% humidity.

Of course the High Pressure "Heat Dome" has one big advantage. It's an excellent hurricane repellent.

A while back, was living between the Loops just North of the Bandera Highway. That's in San Antonio, TX.
Then Texas folks like to name their roads for the towns they go to.
The local TV weather folks announced Blue Norther bad weather!
They cut to an on the scene team up in the Hill Country.
Is it snowing up there?
Yes it is!
They pointed the camera at their vehicle windshield.
OMG! There are actual snowflakes on that glass!
Where is my Parka?

When I was a kid in the 60s we lived in Fort Worth for 18 months. Through perfect timing, we were there for a Blue Norther complete with mongo snow and a big freeze. Missed at least one day of school, then the temperatures bounced back and it was all over.

Don't complain...

It is the middle of winter Down Under (Spring officially commences September 1st) and it sure feels like it.

We've been spoilt the last few years with warmer than usual winters, but not in 2024. Today, for the first time in a week, it was actually warm in the sun. Mostly it has been cloudy with wind off Antartica, temperatures around 8-10 degrees celsius and a wind chill that I had forgotten we ever get..

I am still driving a desk after my injury and I arrive at the office each morning where the heat pump has been set at 25 C, only to turn on the gas fire all day, usually on high.

I look at he temperatures in Houston, Nashville and other places on my phone and just dream of them.

Oh well, in February while we are struggling in summer heat your guys will be in winter.
