What do I do?

One of my now retired former bosses bought a Maverick hybrid to tow behind her motorhome. She loves it. Said it gets nearly 50mpg.

It looks pretty nice on the outside, but I have to say that interior is super cheap looking hard plastic everywhere.

Perhaps the best way to save money on a new vehicle is to buy at the end of the model year and look for either a hefty rebate or a great interest rate. FYI, GMC currently has 1.9% on their Canyon small trucks.

That's funny. The Maverick isn't tiny. What has happened is that all the 1500 grade trucks have got huge. The Maverick is almost the same size as a 1997 10th generation F150.

Other than width it IS pretty darned close to the SWB 5th gen F150.

You are correct Steve. My Tacoma is actually bigger than the original Tundra. The Tundra today is H-U-G-E. All of the new full sized 1/2 ton trucks have a bed that hits me around mid chest. I need a step ladder to get up into the bed or cab. The Tacoma just hit the sweet spot for my needs. Carries what I need-tows my boats and has the Grateful Dead channel on Sirus. Love the Taco!!!

I am glad I got my F150 when I did. 2019 bought in 2020 for about 65K for a Lariat edition. Just dropped it off at the Ford dealer for a recall on the infotainment computer. Looked at several F150s they have on the lot. A 2024 XLT edition is 65K. A Roush edition is 105K and that it not even the worst. The Harley edition is 150K. I think I would have to start selling medical Marijuana to afford something like that.

I would rather buy an older mid 90's Ram diesel or the 7.3 1999 Ford and refurbish it for less than that.

Car dealers don't like cash because they lose money on the
front end ( down payment) and on the back end( trade in).
They can break even on a new car sale, but the sale increases
their factory allotment of new cars. They can make up to $3K
or more on the sale of a used car on their lot. With cars
costing a lot more today, I'm sure it's over that.

IDK those Mavericks and their cousins the Comet with a 302 in them were pretty cool. You could hop them up easy and they were light.
