You know it's getting pretty bad when.....

You get all hot and bothered about a gun you seen on GB, then two days later, while going thru your safe, you see that you already have one....doh..

I wish I had such a problem that I had so many guns I couldn't remember what I had or didn't have.

I did that recently with a $1.25/pr pair of potholders, and I don't own even half a dozen pairs of potholders. If you have anywhere near as many guns as I do, I would recommend not worrying about it.

I, on the other hand, should probably set some kind of Alzheimer's watch.

Believe it or not, it can be a real problem, especially the older you become. I started using an Excel spread sheet to keep track of what I have, what I have gotten rid of, and where it went. The spread sheet gets checked frequently.

The insanity of gun prices on GB is astounding. For instance look at lever rifle prices or Remington 760/7600 asking prices. I have had a couple 760's back when and never paid over 200 NIB. Some of them now sell for what I paid for my first new truck. Almost beyond belief.

My wife and i was at a Flee Market and there were a lot of guns There. If i could sale my small collection for people were asking for their stuff i could have fun buying mine again and have extra cash to buy some different ones.

I went to a flea market Saturday..........All it was. Was an orginized trash dump.

I should do that because of my milsurp habit. If I keep over and somebody is selling them for my wife, simply calling them Mausers or Enfields misses the whole point for collectors.

Besides all the pertinent info like serial number and description, I also have the approximate value so my son will know what things are worth on my eventual demise.

I'm a Luddite so something like this is beyond my capabilities. But I use an old school solution. I take the return envelopes I get with the begging letters and stuff the receipts and governmental papers inside for each gun, and identify the subject gun on the outside of the envelope. The envelopes for guns I presently have are in bags in one safe. The envelopes for guns that are disposed of are taken out and put in another bag in another safe.

I had a similar problem... kinda... was explaining to my gunshow buddy what made the gun on the table a great little pistol.. and the dealer said that he would make me a deal.. 2 that worked great and a parts gun & extra magazines... heckuva deal.. I did it... and the parts gun was only missing a $1.30 part... cheapest one I ever got.. lol
