Justice Department disrupts Russian influence operation...

Thanks to 40, the USSR is no more...but Vlad is doing his best to put the old band back together again. Ask the Ukrainians if they see a difference between the USSR of the 1960s and the Russia of 2024...

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, smells like a skunk...its a soviet.
And thanks for mentioning 40. Every time someone belly aches about involvement in the Ukraine, my simple reply is what would Reagan do...I know what he would do.

Yeah, I agree! It's the same people crying about Russia then, are the same people crying about it now. Same play from the same playbook with the same intent.

Same response then, same response now and no doubt same response in the future.

Perhaps time to shut this thread down. :)

Nearly all Federal defendants aren't laughing.

"In fiscal year 2022, only 290 of 71,954 defendants in federal criminal cases – about 0.4% – went to trial and were acquitted, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of the latest available statistics from the federal judiciary. Another 1,379 went to trial and were found guilty (1.9%)."

Few federal criminal defendants go to trial and even fewer are acquitted | Pew Research Center

I was in no way laughing at their success rate for convictions. That rate is almost....unbelievable, I would say. Uncanny, at a minimum. Almost like the scales are weighted in some way, but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Nope, just laughing at the irony of the department name.
Much like the "Ministry of Truth."

You may now resume using one of your accounts to post "facts" from "fact-checkers" and the other to confirm your findings.

True enough about federal cases and nearly 100 per cent conviction rate. The feds simply do not go to trial unless they believe they have an air tight case. In grand ju ry hearings the cases with some doubt are simply thrown out. Actual moves to trial then never happen.

Well, there's always the possibility of asylum in Russia:

"Russian media asks Putin to offer asylum to unwitting MAGA dupes

Russian state media this week asked for a welcoming hand to be extended to a group of right-wing media influencers who were caught up as unwitting dupes in an alleged illegal Russian influence scheme this week.

As reported by Julia Davis at The Daily Beast, Russian state TV host Vladimir Solovyov appeared "notably shaken" by the DOJ indictment of two Russian operatives for funneling money to right-wing media companies in the United States in exchange for airing pro-Kremlin propaganda.

In particular, Solovyov feared that former Fox News star Tucker Carlson, who infamously filmed a propaganda video praising a high-end grocery store in Moscow, would be the next domino to fall.

In fact, Solovyov went so far as to encourage Russian President Vladimir Putin to extend an offer of asylum to Carlson, as well as MAGA influencers Tim Pool, Dave Rubin, and Benny Johnson all of whom were secretly paid
hefty sums of money in exchange for peddling Kremlin propaganda."
