Justice Department disrupts Russian influence operation...

My take on this thread is that the Russian social media/internet campaign has been, and continues to be, very effective.

Much more so than I had realized.

With sincerity, God help us, one and all.

We need, as a country, unity to be strong. Unity does not require unanimity of opinion or belief, but it does require agreement on core values: Family. Character. Integrity. Country....

Put that way, is unity so hard?

Absolutely! Asymmetric warfare is still warfare. This article captures the most relevant (unclassified) portions of the Russian social media campaigns: Just a moment...

Russians vs. DOJ -- who's the bigger liar?

At this point, there's no way to say...

How would you know? You watch RT? I thought you hate anything Russian.

So; I work in Tbilisi, 40 miles from Russian-occupied South Ossetia, Georgia. This location is rated at the highest security risk for both human intelligence (HUMINT) and electronic intelligence gathering by Russians. I protect my laptop and phone a variety of ways that make me not worth the effort to target even though Vlad's folks know who every American contractor is here, who they work for, what they do, and where they live.

I'm darn near 70, bald, and thoroughly unattractive. At restaurants here occasioned by Americans even I've been approached (we all have been) by young attractive females who speak perfect English and 'really like America' and would like to sit down and just visit to 'practice English.' If you politely dismiss yourself a few times, you'll next be approached by an attractive young man, same modus operandi. Classic HUMINT 'approach and engage.'

No, I am not fond of Russians working for Putin.

So is Iran, China, N Korea and who knows how many more.

True. They’re all working feverishly on the misinformation campaign. Likely coordinating.

Anytime an American has a vague (or worse) feeling of anger toward their government, country, law enforcement, military, etc., without any particular evidence, that’s enemy propaganda at work.

True enough about federal cases and nearly 100 per cent conviction rate. The feds simply do not go to trial unless they believe they have an air tight case. In grand jury hearings the cases with some doubt are simply thrown out. Actual moves to trial then never happen.

Some folks seem to forget that prosecutors are legally and ethically forbidden to charge and try someone unless they believe he is guilty and have the evidence to prove it.

Can’t forget those cases where the DOJ, judge, prosecutors, et al. are working together to bring bogus charges in jurisdictions that are heavily, politically biased, aka lawfare.

Wow.

Y'know, if there was a conspiracy between the US Department of Justice, judges, prosecutors, and others to bring "bogus charges" in certain jurisdictions, it would have be very large, involve dozens of people at a minimum, and be pretty easy to prove. And convicting someone of "bogus charges" would also require corrupting a jury. Why has no one stepped forward to tell the truth?

All one sided and obvious political talk. I choose not to read them.

as disinformation campaigns led by some of the op's news sources like to say, "presented with no specifics and not a shred of evidence". It is presented with a ton of innuendo and association techniques. Nowhere is there presented an actual mis informational action that can be checked or verified.

especially certain prosecutors in new york city.

Well lets see here. Was crossing the street outside of the crosswalk the other day, and got charged for jaywalking. The prosecutor didn't like my politics so he separately charged ne for every step taken in crossing the street. Then being thoroughly corrupted by politics, he said my crossing the street was directly related to an unnamed, unproven, untried crime that made each step taken a separate felony.

Course in the pit of snakes, all snakes are legally and ethically forbidden to bite another snake.

Then again, for an obvious political post, no one will complain about it being political untill they are disagreed with?

The US Government has many faults, and has been guilty of many things in the past, but to see our fellow Americans on here allege that our elected government, and our own government officials, are no more trustworthy than a murderous Russian dictator and his thuggish myrmidons is truly depressing. Propaganda works, and those who are most easily influenced by it are those who deny its existence and/or fail to recognize it when they see it.

I feel the presence of trolls.

Same as in the many Covid and global warming threads. When they lost, after posting their misinformation, they resort to condescending remarks with those that disagree, prefaced usually by “respectfully”.
