The cheeseburger that fuelled the Manhattan Project

Another local Burger of note is the Laguna Burger.
It originated at a Gas Station Convenience Store out on the Laguna Pueblo on I-40 West of here.
Now they have expanded to several locations.
The Full Size is 1/2 pound.
I usually get the 1/3 pound.
It is da Wimp.
Yes, and I have two photos of them supra.

I stopped going to Lotaburger. The burgers got smaller, the quality went down, but the price went up, way up - almost $16 for a meal -burger, seasoned fries and a small drink. Yeah, no.

Only a couple bucks more than McDonalds. Looks worth it.

I lived in Socorro NM, about 10 miles north of there, in the 70s and 80s. Ate their burgers many times and they were always good. If I remember correctly, an owner was killed there.... Not sure when.

Green chile cheeseburgers are delicious, but I still prefer a good Texas jalapeno cheeseburger to any of them I've tried. Nothing wrong with green chiles, and the Hatch produce is a big deal here in western Texas every year in August.

Well, there was this one place in Tres Piedras many years ago that (inadvertently one hopes) served flies on their GCCB. Extra protein, I suppose.

Brings back some forgotten memories. Back in my oilfield days in Midland TX, I was a member of the Midland Country Club. It had a great restaurant and bar where all us oilfield trash hung out most afternoons. Of course everything there went on our expense accounts. One of their specialties was the bean burger, don't remember what they called it, maybe the Midland Burger. About a half pound of meat, two patties with a refried bean layer between, cheese, topped with a fistful of sliced pickled Jalapeño peppers and anything else you wanted. It was all I could do to get one down, and boy, were those burgers good.

Well, talking about them so much gave me an antojo for one, so - while they were judging this year's winner at the fair - I took a friend and went to get one.

Half-pounder at Cocina Azul - cooked perfectly to order (medium-well) and pretty darned delicious:

Still haven't seen a news story about who won the State Fair competition today. By the way, Santa Fe had their (little) Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown last Friday, and Sobremesa won.
Green Chile Cheeseburger Smackdown | Green Chile Cheeseburger and Burrito Smackdowns

At a local fish place, believe it or not

Pretty sure this was Laguna Burger again

And, since the Mine Shaft in Madrid (only the Anglos say "MAD-rid," BTW; ask my 92-year-old suegro) was mentioned, here is the "NM Wagyu Green Chile Cheeseburger" they served me in April. I asked for it to be medium . . . it was - a little under.

Looks just like the ones we had in May over Memorial Day. Delicious

Was just down that, gassed up At Isleta.
The Restaurant is behind the Gas Station- Convenience Store.
I've had the Tortilla Burger there, excellent.
They usually have the cheapest gas on the South end of town.

Thanks for the report: we'll all have to try the GCC now. :)

Mmmm. Loves me a verde cheeseburger.
Problem is my favorite one is made 220 miles away.
The local burger joint's only offering with peppers is so loaded with habanero sauce to the point that pain is part of its well-earned name.
