After procrastinating for several weeks, I decided to replace a non-working flow diverter on the Moen valve of the shower in a spare bedroom bath. Yesterday afternoon, I went to two local plumbing supply houses to buy a replacement diverter. Neither had the part in stock. I returned home and decided to buy it off the internet, as there was no real rush. I found that Amazon had it, and even including shipping, Amazon’s price was less than half the price at the local supply houses. So I ordered it from Amazon at about 5 o’clock. It was delivered to my door at 2 this afternoon. I was truly astonished, as I did not expect it to arrive until sometime next week. That is really an efficient operation they run. Shower has now been returned to working condition.

I too have had an Amazon Prime Membership for several years now. I made lots of purchases before I became a Prime member. There is such a wide array of items not available locally, and the shipping is fast. One word of caution I might add is to be careful of counterfeit products, and it happens, check reviews carefully.

I had prime back in 2020 and free second day shipping went to free next week shipping. I understood why because the whole country was jacked up then. However my cost for prime stayed the same when the service that I was paying for could not be provided. So I dropped prime and the little I order from them takes a week even if it is shipped from a 100 miles away. The slow shipping I am sure is to try to get you to join prime. When ordering you have be very careful or you will be signing up for prime when you don’t want to. True they have about everything you can want, but they are my last resort if I can’t find it somewhere else.

I do 90% of my non-grocery shopping on Amazon. There’s a distribution center nearby so I can get stuff the same day sometimes.

I remember when they only sold used books.

Few days ago I ordered a pair of shoes just for yard work. They came the next day. They were just a spot large, had the option to return them to Kohl's or Staples. Staple is near KFC, so Staples it was.

Ordered a new pair 1/2 size smaller, and got them the next day.

After they built a distribution center in Daytona, I'll get some things the same day I order them.

I use my daughters account.

Just an FYI on Moen, Delta and American Standard...

They all offer a lifetime warranty for as long as the original purchaser owns the faucet. When you buy their products, save your receipt. I've taken advantage of these warranties several times over the past 30 years.

About a month ago, our Moen kitchen sink squirter hose sprung a leak. We caught it and shut off the water before any damage was done. I looked for a replacement on Amazon, but decided to call Moen before ordering one. They sent me a new hose at no charge.

The motherboard on my main desktop failed last week. After much searching locally, I found a new AMD CPU and new Gigabyte motherboard and 32 Gb of memory as a "package" on Amazon and ordered it last night. Just received notice that it was shipped last night and I'll receive it tomorrow - Sunday! And if I'd bought locally (only choice is Best Buy - the local computer fixit stores are gone), It would have been $500+. I spent $280, and it qualifies for 4 interest-free payments if I want.

@moosedog Are you old enough to remember that the old Sears catalog had sporting goods? You could buy a rifle and ammunition and they'd be shipped directly to your home.

I love AMZN too. After stock split my cost basis is about $104 share. It heading to $200 again. Long term buy n hold……… oh wait different topic.

Used my pressure washer for the fourth time and hose developed a major leak coming out of unit. Amazon will do nothing says contact seller. Seller seems to be no longer in business. So warranty is worthless. If Amazon is going to allow other companies to sell on their web site they should stand behind the products sold if seller will not.

I can recall my Dad ordering a gun from the catalogue. I was a toddler at the time, but was always fascinated with the guns from an early age.

As far as Amazon goes, we use the daylights out of it. The wife mostly but why on earth go to a store when you can have it dropped on your doorstep generally for less and often the next day (some items come in hours).

The only thing my wife buys at the grocery anymore is perishables.
