What do you do that would be considered cheap?

I'm with zeke...

Those holes in some of my shirts and pants add ventilation on a hot day as well as character. Since I no longer have to be concerned with job interviews or picking up up women the "dress to impress" adage doesn't fit my lifestyle.

It's also fun when vehicle shopping. The uppity salespeople ignore you so you end up with the new guy. The laughs on them when you pick out a nice truck and write a check out for the full amount.

When my wife and I got together we were poor as church mice. In addition to knowing how to live frugally we both hate waste. Ziplock baggies, tie wraps, foil, etc. are reused.
We pinch pennies, reuse what we can and minimize waste, it pays for nice bigger things.
We spent extra money to have a contractor that specializes in ultra efficient homes build our retirement house. We have not had the heat or AC running in five months. It helps that we live in a mild banana belt.
Summer nights we have windows we open that can't be reached from the ground outside. Also open every closet, drawer and cabinet to let as much heat out as possible. When I close them after I get up, they act as a heat sink.
Two days last summer the heat inside got up to 79°, a couple days ago the house only got up to 59°. Normally we keep the house warmer, but we are seeing who will cave in first to turn the heat up.

I buy and shave with super cheap Walmart brand Equate double blade disposable razors. You get a bag of 12 razors for about $2. They do a good job and I get a bunch of shaves out one razor. A couple of bags will get me through a year or more for $4.

Don't shave, and cut my own hair. Drive 60 mph , no matter the speed limit, to save gas on the highway. Live in vacation land, so don't have to go other places.

I couldn't even begin to list the stuff that my wife and I do. We are cheap, and proud of it! I'll spend money on things that return real value, but otherwise I can pinch a penny hard enough to make Lincoln squeal!

But see, I'm cheap so that I can afford the things that I really want. For example, my wife and I are considering taking our daughter on a cruise to Antarctica next year. Will cost in the neighborhood of $12k-$13k, each. That's a lot of money, but that's a life experience that has real value to us.

So, I'm cheap, but then I'm not so cheap.

I have a large box in the dining room closet that I keep filled with the packets of plastic ware from carry out/delivery.

Perfect for cook outs.

I keep them till this bowl fills up, then I toss them and start over. I only keep the spoons and knives. They come in handy for mixing JB Weld and stuff.

I keep a few straws around too.

I forgot the haircut thing. I have cut my own hair for most of my adult life. I would probably enjoy being bald, but I can achieve much the same result by running clippers over my head every few weeks. Takes maybe 10 minutes and costs nothing. I once had a boss who ran his electric razor over his head every morning.

I came from a very thrifty family but not of necessity as my father made a pretty good living. But HIS family was of very limited means and he early on learned the value of thrift, which he in turn passed on to me. My wife was raised in an impoverished family and was also used to living on a shoestring so she fit right in with my way of thinking. So we have always been tightwads even though we have never needed to be. But we have never re-used paper plates that I can remember.

Me, I have been known to clean and reuse paper plates....more than once.:eek::eek:

Obviously it depends on what they were used for originally

This is one for me too.:D:D

I also pay for my prescriptions out-of-pocket with Good Rx because it is cheaper than my prescription co-pay deductible since my wife died and I am the only one on my Medicare Advantage Plan insurance now.
