Yeah, I don't either. I thought I saw it on the 10. But you know, if no lock is the selling point, why not take a close up photo where the lock used to be? Instead, we get angled shots.
I'm still going to buy another Python, tho.
I don't see a plug...

But I do see a two piece barrel. Ugh.
It's a move in the right direction, but from what I see the contoured area of the frame surrounding the hammer of the K frame (and J frames) is still ugly, this was done when the lock was implemented. To do it right in returning to the original design they should get back to the original frame design.

It appears they also eliminated the integral cylinder stop on the frame and went back to the original one, but can't see for sure.
Whatever you want to call it, it's still there... part of the frame forging. I guess that was a bridge too far for a retro gun despite some other nice touches. The forged frame lug appears to still be the norm.
I doubt I'd buy either one. On GB, you really don't know what you're getting till it's in your hands. It could be in bad shape and the seller lied about it, or a half-price mint condition gem.Why would you buy one of these New classics when you can get an old one on GunBroker? A real one. One with a history, old-school Hammer nose, pinned.. recessed. Exactly what you're looking for.
I believe the no lock is $110 more than the S&W list price for the current version of the Model 19 Classic, which is $989. I believe the new one is $1099 list price.I don't see a plug, my buddy sez well ok they are upcharging for changing the guns.
I replied , They aren't doing anything extra, they are simply deleting drilling the hole in the side and installing the lock stuff which shoukd reduce the cost not increase it.
My bet is once the bean counters see there is interest and it costs less they will move that way with the rest of the lineup.
The timing is interesting or shoukd I say suspect being the rebate ended and there's about to be a power change in DC that is less anti gun.
Imo the biggest let down in these 3 models is the 19, same old grips, round butt frame etc just delete drilling the hole for a $170 upcharge.
Nope.
Big news from S&W
Got an email showing pics of new revolvers with no IL
Thanks for the link, ladder 13. That model 10 even seems to have a LERK (Large Ejector Rod Knob).
It'll be interesting to see if all the folks who said they'd buy a new S&W if it didn't have the lock actually do.
(snip)
First strike against the Colt was that it was not a Smith & Wesson. Second strike was that silly barcode stamped on the side. And the third strike was that the blued 4 inch model has the three vents/ribs or whatever you call them on top of the barrel, instead of two like the 4 inch stainless Python has. The blued one just looks funny and out of proportion. I greatly prefer my S&W Model 19 Classic.
