An elderly guy was driving his Corvette at a good clip when he spotted a trooper in his rear view mirror. So instead of slowing down he sped up and to the trooper's chagrin a high speed pursuit followed.

The man realized that he just was too old to try to outrun a cop and decided to pull over. The trooper asked for the man's license and registration. Then he told the man "Look I'm about to go off duty and if you have an excuse that I never heard before and it has merit, I'll let you go."

The man was silent for a while and then responded with following excuse. " A few years ago my wife ran off with a state trooper and I thought he was trying to bring her back." The trooper let him go...
