Which direction to remove Shield sights.

Thinking about replacing the sights on my Shield. I do remember trying to move the front sight years ago when i first got it. It would not budge.
looking at videos I saw a guy saying to move the sights from the ejector side . The guy in the next video said the exact opposite. Does it even matter?
Planning on using a vise and brass drift punch. Or a steel one if i have too.

It does matter. The sights have a slight taper on the entry edge. Remove them left to right, when looking from the rear.

If you are adding new sights, be sure they fit your particular dovetail. Many of the new aftermarket sights are quite oversized and need to be modified in order to fit properly.

I believe all S&W semi-autos are left to right when looking at the rear of the slide, going back to the gen 1 DA/SA guns.

Thanks guys. As I remember I was trying to move it to the left (looking from the rear) and it would not budge. I really didn't have it secured properly and gave up before I did any damage.
