LGS has a 14-3 6" single action only with original box. unfortunately the price would be about $1050 out the door.
Seems a bit pricey plus I already have a nice 14-3 sa/da.
Makes deciding difficult.

I had one a friend gave me to settle a debt. I too have a 14-3 and a 14-5 so I kept it a few years, let it go to a nice feller at the Lakeland show maybe 3-4 years ago. Unless you shoot one of the "pistol disciplines" requiring such equipment (or it fills a blank in a collection), eventually it becomes a "why?" $4 digits seems steep anyways. Joe

14-3

Another way to look at it might be, a model 14 is a very
accurate target revolver The addition of a box, especially if it
is the original box, hopefully with tools, docs etc probably adds
$100 + dollars to the value and if it is a documented factory
SAO that might even add more value.

In any case SAO 14's are a lot of fun to shoot

I don't any guns more fun to shoot than my 14-3 SAO.

I don't know anything about money, other than people much smarter than myself twist temselves in all sorts of knots over it.

I probably wouldn't shoot it enough. For 38/357 revolvers, I already have a 14-3 6" double action, a 14-3 4", a 15-3 4" , a 19-4 6", a 10-8 4". plus in 45 cal a 25-2 and an old M1917,plus a couple Colts

Model 14’s are obviously fantastic revolvers but S&W made a guzillion of them, especially the dash-3 variant. That makes the Model 14 (again, especially the 14-3) not a particular valuable/collectible revolver because they were produced in such heavy volume.

Given that you already own a couple, I would not be excited at that price.

Based on prices I've seen on Model 14's lately that does seem pretty high.
I see them sell on Gunbroker in very nice condition in the $600-$700 range. Perhaps the single action only adds to the price ...considerably ?

I have a 14-1 SA documented as such from a factory letter. Was one of the first two shipped from the factory. That aside, the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 5th edition has this to say about the SA Model 14:

"Single action only variation worth 25% premium IF verified by factory letter."

The book also lists a value of $850 for a Model 14 in excellent condition. So if the gun in question is truly in excellent condition, the asking price may not be out of line. It becomes a question of how much do YOU want it and what are YOU willing to pay. Decide that and make an offer.

This shop does not negotiate. The price they set is firm. Generally their prices are 'fair' , not unreasonable but generally no real low price.
I've been putting off going to inspect this one since I know what happens when I do that. Hoping someone beats me to it (LOL)
