Around the turn of the century I bought a 629. I don't know what dash it was, maybe someone can decipher the SN. Anyway, it was unusual in that it had a 7 1/2" barrel and was highly polished. They guy I bought it from said he bought it that way, new, from a gun store in Phoenix.

As best I could tell, it was made from leftover parts from the run of Magna Classics. Still have the box.

Unfortunately, it got away from me. I don't remember if it had a recessed cylinder.

What was unusual about this one, not only was the barrel 7 1/2", it was highly polished, even in the nooks and crannies. You can spot an 'aftermarket' polish job by looking in the corner where the barrel meets the frame. This didn't have any of those deficiencies. And the polish job was exceptional. I had to look closely to see that it was not chromed.
