Need help identifying a revolver please

Also, reading through the forums and articles on smith & Wesson revolvers I see lots of things about checking the timing. Is this one that has known issues and if so what to look for or measure? And is it ok to shoot store bought ammo?

Not to mention the bad fit here . . . and sounds like an easy sell for those plastic stocks on the Forum!:D

It’s not that I don’t like them. I wouldn’t sell them or get rid of them. I do prefer the wooden checkered stocks on all guns. If these fit properly I wouldn’t question changing them.

No known issues with timing on these K frames, but after 100 years of shooting, the gun can and will wear. I have a safe full of K frame S&Ws and not one of them have a timing issue. Just go through the tests for lock-up and if the revolver functions in both double and single action, locking on every cylinder stop, you are set to go. Standard factory lead 38 Special ammo is just fine for these guns.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate it
