Being on "the list" might be a badge of honor? A healthy DIALOGUE is a good thing; it's like thinking together. A potentially very powerful thing.
I have long been able to separate the person from the personality. There are many entertainers that I stand miles apart ideologically but I still appreciate and enjoy their bodies of work.

Me too. However, watch enough movies and TV, and it's clear that for some, their off-screen persona and views are the least of their problems.
Sure, I know that any actor/actress can have a bad day, maybe because as production progresses they realize the whole project is a cluster. Anyone remember the totally wooden acting of Lois Chiles in the worst James Bond movie ever, Moonraker? In some ways, Kyle McLachan was not much better in the first attempt at making Dune into a movie.
But there are some in the film and TV industry that baffle me as to how they get work. David Caruso is one I reckon could not act his way out of a wet paper bag. There was a blonde in CSI: Miami I thought was much the same. Cannot recall her name. Flat out disaster having those two in the same show.

For me, the one actor I really can't stand is Will Ferrell. As Rusty said I can overlook the ideology of actors and musicians that I have strong philosophical differences with and enjoy their work, if I couldn't it would be a short list of artists whose work I enjoy. Will Ferrell though really just irks me, I find him really irritating!

I don't care what the movie is about but if it has Tom Cruise{sp?] or Brad Pitt in I won't watch it.
I have a problem with entertainers of any genre who believe we should, because we like their artistic contributions, should swallow their personal beliefs as well. Dixie chicks learned it the hard way back in the day. Another example: Kris Kristofferson performed at our local county fair a few decades ago (a large population county on the left coast) and we made it a point to come early to grab a seat to hear one of the 'Highwaymen' play. After the intro song or two he had more than a few anti- words to say about the nation's war in Iraq, Afghanistan going on at the time. Most of the audience sucked it up but some headed to the exits at that point. Very bothersome that many entertainers think because fans love their artistic abilities and they must also be in tune with unrelated ideology. Baseball or other pro- players, musicians, authors and actors are PERFORMERS and provide entertainment. Why the media, congress (at times) and the general public gives credibility to their personal agendas is beyond me .

I did like the 1990s "Getaway" remake.
I "hate" no entertainer. I may pray that whatever hardened their hearts that they confront it, come to terms with it, let it go and reclaim once lost joy but I will never carry the bitter pill of hatred in my own heart.

Next time you find yourself in Albuquerque, New Mexico make a point of stopping in at the local VFW post. You will find a men's restroom adorned as a Jane Fonda shooting range, every urinal featuring a picture of her as the aiming point.
Many of us will never forget her publicized travels to North Vietnam and public denunciations of the United States while we were performing our duties there. Some of our POWs have recalled her visit during their stay at the Hanoi Hilton (prison) and passing on to their guards what the POWs asked her to convey back to their nation and families. Publicity pictures showing Jane Fonda in the seat of a 12.7mm anti-aircraft gun used against American aircraft.
No Jane Fonda for me, thanks anyway.

I've seen this in numerous American Legion and VFW posts.
I agree. I watch sports or entertainment to forget about politics. I'm pretty discreet about discussing my political views in public so why can't they do the same?
Late night television died the day Jay Leno retired. While he did make a few political comments in his monologue, he was pretty balanced about it and he was NEVER mean-spirited, I don't think he has it in him.
They ought to look at Jimmy Failla to host The Tonight Show, he's the only guy that makes me laugh anymore.
