This one sold the day is was posted…
It was priced at $999.99
I doubt there will be another one at that price for a good while..
Going rate seems to be between 1100 and up to 1700 depending on condition and extras, I guess.
Sometimes I wonder why they don’t price these things higher and wait a few more days..
But I am not in the sales business so..
Did anyone on this forum get this??
I was about to lay out for it and made an inquiry only to find it had sold..

Please don't give the sellers more ideas, bargains are hard enough to find already.

Back in the early 80's I was at a gun auction, (back when it was a real auction in person), and there were quite a few S&W's. One that struck me was t Mod 25-5, 45 Colt with a 4" barrel. I wanted that. The bidding opened and it quickly went above $1000. At that time it was unheard of to see a revolver go that high. Have not been in a position to buy one since than.

I saw that one before it sold. As I looked at the pictures, the "45 Colt CTG." roll mark did not look centered on the barrel. I have seen so few Model 25's with a 4" barrel that it left me wondering if it was a cut down barrel, so I didn't pursue it. Besides, the last time I saw a Saturday morning Bass Pro/Cabelas bargain on GI, I spent a majority of the day trying to get through/email to make the purchase only to be told, when I did get through, that they would have to look through all the phone calls and emails to determine who was on it first.

After looking at the photo it does look like it is off center. I thought it might be the way the gun was photographed, but I looked at mine and rotated the gun a little, and mine still looks on center. That's a good catch.

This gives me a big smile as I have a unfired 25-5 blue 4” barrel in the plain blue cardboard box and paperwork. Sadly the wood case disappeared years ago. I intended to carry it as a duty gun but boss said no.

I have a 4" 25-5 and its a great gun. At one time, these were very popular with LEOs. I got mine from a retired Captain in my local Sheriff's Dept. I also knew a SGT in my local PD who carried one. Wouldn't give it up until the Chief gave him a direct order to change to the issue 9mm.

I have one that has not been fired yet. It is the one on the bottom. I gave 1300.00 for it because of the condition

Here’s my 4” 25-5 that I bought brand new in 1988. The roll mark on the barrel looks pretty much like the one in the original post. BTW, I paid a little over three bills for it back then. So, I think it was a good investment and NO, it’s not for sale. 😁

My M25-5 4" came to me through a fellow Detective back in the 90's.
Other than his duty gun, all he had was this M25-5 4" and he wanted to take his son shooting. Also complained that ammo was too expensive.
I asked him if he'd like a .22 rifle for shooting with his son. He was enthused about the idea.
We agreed to bring the respective guns in the next day.
I brought him my very used Ruger 10/22, a soft case and a 500 rd. brick of ammo. (I'd bought the Ruger years before for $40)
He brought the M25-5 in a cheap black plastic pistol box, and it was wearing Pachmayrs.

I asked how much extra he wanted in the trade - nothing! He was thrilled and was sure he got the better end of the deal. So, we just did the swap. He later told me of all the good times he had with his son shooting the 10/22.

My M25-5 is one of my hunters and has scored a few times. Usual load for it is a 255 gr LSWC-HP with around 9.0 gr. of Unique. I hunt thick cover for Whitetails and it works fine.
