I have heard our President is considering changing November 11th, Veteran's Day, back to World War 1 Victory Day or World War 1 Armistice Day. Have you heard this and what are your thoughts on the change?
Oops. Big misspoke there. I don't think the millions who were fighting in the Pacific theater would be very happy with the WW2 Victory date mentioned - 8 May - VE Day, because it was not the end of the war for all Americans. There was lots more dying to do (Okinawa comes to mind) until VJ Day, when WW2 really ended, 2 Sep, aboard the USS Missouri."I am hereby declaring a National Holiday in celebration of the Victories of World War I, where the Armistice was signed on November 11, 1918, and World War II, where the Victory date was May 8, 1945," Trump wrote online.
"We will not be closing the Country for these two very important Holidays, November 11 and May 8, World War I and World War II, because we already have too many Holidays in America," he wrote. "There are not enough days left in the year. We were Workers then, and we are Workers now!"
