My 1894 Trapper in .44 Magnum came with a Skinner rear sight. Mine is pretty much bottomed out.

If you are referring to a semi-buckhorn sight like older 1894s, the adjustment isn't very precise but it works.

The factory front sight on my .357 carbine was too high. The gun shot 6" low at 25 yds. with the rear sight at full elevation. I replaced the front sight with a lower Lyman bead and the problem was solved. It now shoots to POA at 50 yds. with the rear sight in the second notch. Not a big deal, really, but I expected better with a new rifle. Other than that glitch it's a wonderful little rifle!

Thank you both for the replies. Mine is shooting about 6"-7" low at 50 yards with the rear sight raised to max elevation.
The lower front sight will solve that problem. I think I used the lowest bead sight that Lyman had and it works fine. I also have a .44 carbine. That one would have had the same problem but I put a Skinner rear on it. That added enough extra height on the rear to make the sights useable without changing out the front. Either way will solve the problem but I wish Ruger would get this right. This is a very common problem on an otherwise really neat little carbine.

I like those ideas as well.
