Help identifying my S&W 19-5

I'm not familiar with guns, never had one until this.

Serial number is BBB0XXX.
Any idea on year?

Or any other details? All I know is that it's a pre lock S&W 19-5 .357 Combat Revolver.

Also, how can I safely remove the rust and clean it?

Well, BBA and BBC are 1988, but that's no guarantee yours was made then, but it's an even bet.

SN seems like between Jan and July of 1988. Round butt.

Myself, I wouldn't do anything other than clean with a CLP.

BBB0695 is Aug, 88 and BBB0775 is Sep, 88.

Interestingly enough (to me), they both have RR/WO too.
