Are you a "gun slut"?

just another one for your viewing pleasure. He carries a CANNON in this one. And I'm sure he did! In Somalia!
Ayooob would be proud of McBragg! Also makes Ayoob look humble.
I await his next story with an excited tension.

I suppose I am. I've owned probably a couple hundred handguns over the last 25 years or so. Most of them weren't for carry, and I never even owned a holster for them. Buy them, shoot them a bit, trade/sell them and get something else.

But I have shot a lot of guns. Not well, mind you, but I have shot them.

I'm little suspicious of folks who spend the much time with cartoons. 🤣🤣
And I'm a little suspicious of folks who know it all and have been there and done that with everything.

You may or may not notice we have a board full of Vietnam ( and other Wars) Combat Veterans who's exploits and horrors were/are VERY real- yet they don't speak of them...
You've run your mouth for years. I don't really think anyone is impressed.

Please tell us all about the time you took Hamburger Hill with a J frame and saved countless American Lives in the process...

or maybe that time that "if only" you were in Somalia, Blackhawk Down never would have happened.

I honestly WOULD like to thank you though for ONE thing. The free rent you've given me.

In your head.

And its funny how you knew exactly who that original video was meant for... But oh wait-
That's because you're so smart!

So how do you really feel? I'd suggest the ignore feature.

For the past 25 years or so, my primary carry gun has been my Colt Officers ACP. From time to time, I will switch to my Smith Model 60, but soon go back to the .45. Either one, I shoot very well, and both are carried IWB, strong side hip. I have lots of other handguns, but these are the ones I rely on for SD.

Bianchi's Law modified.

Glock 19 or a Glock 26 on my hip or in my right pocket. Unless circumstances Beyond My Control dictator otherwise
Those are the same two guns my old outfit, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations now carry. Must be good choices. I carry the Glock 19 and 43 in the pocket most of the time.

I'm concerned that I don't qualify. My normal EDC is a 640 and has been for almost a decade. However, in the winter I'll carry my 1st generation Shield chambered in .40 s&w. I'll also carry the Shield in certain other circumstances during the summer months. My backup in either case is a 642. Am I a gun slut?

54 years ago I bought a Colt D/S. Two years later I find myself in the police academy with the issued model 10. A lot of the training was aimed at reloading under stressful conditions. Partial reloads as well. Understanding this I gave my father the Colt and bought a S&W J frame as BUG and off duty. Never looked back.

I believe that there's a vast difference in carry guns and range toys. Just like there's a vast difference in working drug infested inner city streets with regular exchanges of gunfire between rival gangs and being a part time auxiliary officer in East Cowpoop, New Hampshire.

The stress induced it pistol competition with timers and paper targets is one thing.

The stress induced in working rotating hours, politicians who don't care and a chief who's a ticket punching whiteshirt flying a desk ever upward from job to job with only loyalty to his advancement. So you're faced with not only the danger of ghetto police work but the knowledge that it's only you and your partner. Headquarters and city hall are playing woke politics and don't have your back.

Now put all that into a target that's shooting at you. This is the stuff that the guy on the street lives with. This is the garbage floating around 24/7. This in a nutshell is why sticking with one gun, one holster was invented. I'm one of those who adopted that thought process.

You want to rotate guns, holsters and ammunition every day? Cool. Not me.
Well said. My EDC is the same the one that goes in the pocket. I carry a second and bigger gun that usually stays in the truck or truck safe, those get rotated, like you say based on when I travel to different threat levels.

Camping in bear country gets a 44 or 10 mm added as the bigger gun. Those of us who came up on wheel guns in law enforcement know how slow even speed loaders can be, those cannot complete with a Glock 19 and 16 rounds, we all know that. However, fishing on a remote stream with my 3 inch model 60 with 2 snake shot and three 357 rounds and a couple speed loaders in the pocket is not exactly unarmed, because I learned 50 years ago to run and reload that wheel gun.

So, I generally do not rotate the small 9mm in my pocket but do rotate the bigger ones for bigger threats, or whatever the location indicates. Did I say anything at all?

So; when riding with Protective Service Details transporting us from point A to point B outside the wire in Mogadishu, our PSD lead always, every trip, explained what weapons he and the driver had and where extra mags (with radios and a med kit) in bags were inside the B6 armored SUV. It goes without saying that each of us regulars learned basic Tokarev and AK operation. Glad I never needed it, although one B6 was hit by an IED in early '22; they had to find and hold cover until friendlies arrived.
I was a protective service officer for military and civilian officials, foreign and domestic. Most of my 7 years as a have gun will travel guy, I carried a commander size 1911 in 45 acp of course, both in the US and elsewhere. Never ever felt unarmed or under-armed with a 45, still don't.

Damn bro, how big are your pockets?
I am a big guy. 43 in the pocket, 19 in the IWB or console. On the other hand, I can carry a 4 inch model 29, in a hip pocket no holster at all. The down side is with a big gun in your pocket that makes it hard to run.

However, if you have a 44 mag in your pocket, why would you run?

Maybe these discussions are more academic than practical, I dunno.

Dumbest thing I've read in a while . . .
I do not always agree with him, and I have more law enforcement and 24 years military in jobs that carried every day, but he does make a point. And it goes like this:

Most old gun guys, like me and like you have been carrying and shooting a very long time. We can pick up a gun in total darkness, a J frame, K frame, 1911 or CZ 75 and we know exactly what it is and how to sweep off any safety. If the lights come on we can fire that gun fairly well, just because of the years of doing so.

For people with many years of dealing with them daily and periodically firing them, I do not see down side to alternating carry. For me, I carry differently is summer than in winter to some extent. I aways have a small 9mm in a pocket but the second gun is always bigger. In winder it may be my 1911 in 10mm, especially if we camp or walk where there are bears, in summer, I do not want to sweat on the gun so it is usually a Glock, can you hurt a Glock by seating on it? I do not think so, but my Gold Cup or other blue 1911, I do not expose them to sweat that much.

So, not one to change often but if you can shoot them well, I see no issues with a rotation.

Just one opinion, mine.

Birds of a feather. I bought an original officer's model the year they came out, 1982 I think. It has been nothing but wonderful and my primary carry for years, replaced with the Glocks which I carried in Law Enforcement in later years, but still love the gun.

And the model 60, I carried the model 36 as both a primary issue gun for plain clothes and as a backup. After retirement, I bought a model 60 three inch, now in 357 of course and stainless and adjustable sights.

Those two guns are among the finest made and I and you are lucky to own them. Great minds think alike.

I went through a period where all I was interested in was obtaining every known HK pistol variant there was, even their carbines and MP5 types weren't safe. I never found one that I didn't like immediately and after thorough testing never found one that would fail to fire in just about every test I threw at it except under water. I ended up settling on the HK USP Tactical for "Bug Out" and HK 45C for current home defense, along with my trusty '97 riot gun. Its odd that I never owned a Glock, even though they are probably the best tool in the toolbox. I finally relented and got one in a trade from a friend of mine, it is a compensated 40 and is just about as accurate and efficient as two of my HK 40's. I have also gone through a period of trying to buy every muzzleloader that a builder friend of mine made, I currently have four of his firearms in my possession and used one in competition Sunday past. His firearms are nearly museum quality builds and as long as he is living they are warranted.
