I don't understand how "they" can put out these ads (on TV) showing all of these happy people taking (whatever) that's supposed to treat (whatever) without explicitly showing the (often very severe) Side Effects they entail.
On the bottom of the screen, "they" show how your head may explode (exaggeration, obviously) and all of the other things that are going to kill you.
And then there are others where "they" actually say that " This has NOT BEEN approved for use or "intended to treat or prevent" whatever this new Wonder Drug is supposed to alleviate
I'm all about Free Enterprise, but this seems like preying on the unsuspecting to me....

I am sick and tired of the fake Broadway musical productions touting pharmaceuticals.
Since you have to go through a physician to get a Rx, I cannot see how these commercials pay off.
The one that blows my mind is the drug to treat, tardive dyskinesia, a physical side effect of a prescribed anti-depression drug and the drug to treat that side effect may cause DEPESSION and SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, WTH. The FCC banned the airing of commercials for hard alcoholic beverages and cigarettes. The same regulations should apply to pharmaceuticals and "supplements".

Let's say you're a person who takes a certain medication for your condition. You've taken it for years and you're doing fine with it. Now a pharma company develops another drug to treat the same condition. It claims it's better. You would have been happy with your old meds, but "the new stuff is better". So, you ask your doctor if you can have the new stuff. He probably wouldn't have switched you, but since you asked....
Also, many of the doctors get perks and kickbacks for prescribing the new stuff.
Always remember: oxycontin was supposed to be a less addicting strong opioid. They marketed it that way, even though they knew it was BS. The doctors knew it was BS and still prescribed it that way. And now look where we're at. These people don't do this for altruistic reasons. They are in it for the money. They're gonna make a buck, no matter how many people they hurt.

The ads show what good dancers the drug makes those who take it. Makes patients and families so much more active and happier. Most of them never even mention what the medicine is supposed to treat. It's just, "Ask your doctor if new frazzledazzlam is right for you."
Sure, why not? Insurance will pay for it!

That would be illegal. On the other hand, "We" have flown a couple dozen docs to Hawaii, the Bahamas and other exotic locations for 5 days to hear a "thought leader/early adopter" talk for an hour about a new drug. I personally have brought docs to sporting clays events, strip clubs, wine tastings, 3 Michelin star restaurants and financed big office parties to buy business...er "demonstrate effectiveness" of drugs. The money is obscene and never once did I mention any of the "downside" things said in commercials. "Doc, you can find that out in the package insert." You know, that giant sheet of paper with the tiny print all over it. I sure do miss that wheelbarrow of money on payday. Joe

Reminds me if the jeff foxworthy skit where he talks about side effects of drugs after he saw a drug commercial. My biggest peeve is they stereo type the group there targeting. If i made a commercial in this woke world i would get sued .
