"OT at work"........That's how I made my purchases back when I worked......Now I just save some here and there till it adds up.........THEN I go hunting............6 1/2 in 24 Blue.........6 1/2 in 24 nickel with Eagle "coke" grips.
I didn't have to work OT to buy the gun. I went to the gun show first before going to work. I saw the M29-2 at the show and was able to have it put on my permit right there. THEN I had to put in my 4 hours OT at work. I may have shot it that night, I don't remember.

Ya'll have to have a permit to buy a handgun?..............What equity allows you have a permit?

And a semi-auto rifle too. Here in the great state of NY, ALL gun owners are considered felons. Why you ask? Because we are all KILLERS!! What other reason is there to have firearms? When I got my permit in 1977 I bought a gun (Ruger Standard) from Creekside Gun shop. They held on to it for me until my permit came in. I went to the County Clerks Office to apply. They asked me what I wanted it for and I said target shooting. I was told by someone who I don't remember not to say self defense. That raises a bunch of red flags. I just wanted to get the Ruger to get my permit to then buy an M29. I had to fill out a form and pay $25 for finger printing which was not refundable if the permit wasn't granted. Also needed was 3 people that lived in the same county that knew me. That was it, got it in September of 1977.

Now adays it's much much worse. I think it costs $150 to $250 to apply, another $250 for training. 5 people to vouch for you. The State Troopers visit your house to check where you will be keeping the firearm. They visit your witnesses to make sure you told the truth that they know you. Not only that they check your social media. The whole idea is to dissuade you from purchasing a firearm. After all it's for public safety, once again we are all killers. If no one had guns there would be no crime, obviously. I've talked to a few people that where thinking about getting a permit until they found out about all this nonsensical bureaucracy. I don't know if the same thing occurs in all counties, maybe not. I hope not. Maybe some of the other members here from NY can verify what I said is true.
Went on a rant again.
