I Am So Sick Of Hearing the Term.....

Assuming they are not on a 4-month maternity leave because their cat had kittens.

Many young folks who are whizzes on the electronic devices are one-trick ponies.

What a relief! I don't know what Tik Tok is, and worse yet, I'm not familiar with a Tik Tok challenge! However, I don't feel deprived...

I know we're beating a very dead horse here but somehow I can't resist one more whack at it. My sole point is that the debt was created largely on our watch, although it was a member of the Silent Generation who wanted to forgive those college loans, and we boomers still have some 50% membership in Congress. If we didn't have the best opportunity to do something about not creating that debt, or fixing it, who did? Those unwashed, unworthy, good for nothing progeny of ours are going to have to pay it back. . . .and they're not going to like it.

Where is that $$$ coming from?
I really think that a lot of people believe that the government just has a magic money tree. At least they act like that. They think that all they have to do is say "the government should pay for that" and the money magically appears. No need to worry about where it is coming from, how it might be better spent, what the effect on the economy might be, or anything else like that. The money just appears.

The government doers have a magic money tree-it's called the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. Recall Ross Perot saying "We could solve the deficit without breaking a sweat !" That's how the Weimar Republic repaid the loans the Kaiser's government used to pay for WWI.
A big problem with today's young is they have too little contact with adults, it's their parents-often just their mother-their teachers, and that's it. I think of all the people I have known who had no contact with anyone in their father's family after the divorce.

Way too much politics here... Knock it off, or this thread will be locked.

I'm proud of the young men and women who grew up on our cul-de-sac. The Mrs and I have lived here over 30 years and have watched 8 children excel. They all came from good homes and have their head on straight. There's not one looser in the lot!

They'd come over to play with our dog and hang out when they were little. We gave them frozen treats, chatted with them, played stickball in the street and gave them presents. I fixed many of their bikes.

They all either completed college with marketable degrees or are close to graduating. At least 4 of them received scholarships.
- One is a psychologist with a masters and is working in a practice.
- Another plays soccer in college on a full ride and is working on her degree in sports medicine. She's a star and hopes to go pro, but has back-up plans.
- One is studying civil engineering and has one more term to go. He's been working as an intern at a large construction company and already has multiple job offers. He plans on getting his PE.
- Another plays college football, is close to graduating and leaves every morning at 4am to work out and train. He'll be in the NFL draft next year.

I hear complaints about college graduates who can't get a job, but a degree in underwater basketweaving MIGHT get you work serving French fries. If the kids who grew up on out street are any indication, Americas future is in good hands.

Maybe you don't want to know. It might it might make you feel bad about today's society.

In the city near my town, the current tiktok challenge is to steal cars and then post pictures of your trophy. The one with the most stolen vehicles before they got caught wins.

Harmless, right? Tell that to the little girl that died when she got run over in a police chase.

As I understand it tiktok is a Chinacrap entity. As has been said before, they don't need to drop bombs on the USA. They will do us under from within.

OK, I'm back from camp. Boy that old pre 27 8 and 3/8 incher sure is a joy to behold. Also, after only a year with a 5.56 AR, I'm a confirmed shooter.

Dead horse for sure. So, stop beating it. Your comments have been repeated several times now. We DO get it. No need to repeat it any more.

I agree with you 100%. Plus, I have said that before, even in this thread. The only deadbeat youngins I have encountered came from single parent families, or got sidetracked by irresponsible friends. The percentage is small.

I won't denigrate gen x y z or q, as long as they don't denigrate me.

Wasn't it Plato that said the youth of the day won't to amount to anything. I guess times never change.

Locally we have a "kick the front door in challenge." Some bright tools have "upped" the game by shooting airsoft guns inside afterward. Waiting on inevitable response from folks "not playing." Joe

Well I just had a kind of surprising thing happen, I was coming back from my 2.5 mile walk down my road and back when I heard a loud truck coming my way about a half mile or so. I hadn't reached the crest of the little hill on my road when I heard a loud bang! No more loud truck either. I figured that the truck blew his engine. When I got where I could see, there was a truck off on the side of the road with it's 4-ways on. I'm not a fast walker so it took me a bit to reach where he was. He looked pretty pissed and was throwing things at his truck and kicking it. I'm thinking this could be trouble for me being alone out there.
He'll no doubt want to use my phone to call someone and I wouldn't get it back without a fight. When I got closer I saw he was a young man maybe in his early 20's or something. I asked if he blew his engine because I heard it a half mile away. He said no, he hit a deer. He was very polite and exhibited no anger or frustration towards me at all. A lot of guys especially young guys with their big truck broken wouldn't have been so calm. He was kicking the broken plastic of the front of his truck and throwing it in the back of the pickup. That was what looked to me was a prelude to some violent act. I asked him if I could help, knowing there was really nothing I could do anyhow but I had to ask. He said "no thank you sir". I was not expecting that!!! I would have figured on him telling me to so something that was physically impossible. BUT NO!. He asked me to hand him his phone that was on the hood and thanked me again. My flabber was truly gasted.
I wish I could have helped him.

Rick

In Florida, "attempting" to illegally enter a home is absolute grounds for using deadly force. So go ahead and kick at Florida doors.

Giant, epic facepalm.

Maybe they should go back to eating Tide Pods....better chance of not running into various types and velocities of projectiles launched explosively from many different shoulder and hand held devices with unfortunate side effects to the receiver!

The government does have a magic money tree-it's called the Bureau of Printing and Engraving.
With just the most basic understanding of economics, one knows that the magic tree of simply printing money results in rampant inflation, and turns the United States into yet another banana republic. I suspect that (sadly) this is where we are headed, and inflation rates in the neighborhood of 100% loom in our future.
