Found this 27-2 at a pawn shop while on vacation in 2019. Ended up getting it for $200 OTD due to it's barrel issue.
Found a barrel on eBay for $150 and paid a gunsmith $80 to install it. Looks a little better now.

Yes, you need one. I had another 5 screw but it went to Ol' drover in TX. That gun once belonged to Tom LeBleu, the Chief of Police in Seminole, TX. back in the early 1950's.

Or maybe I just need a more much more reasonably priced 6 inch and replace the barrel with a 3.5?? This comment may cause the entire site to go down.
To prevent a riot and possibly a lynching from the purists you could buy one of the newer 27's I've seen...This weekend my gun show table partner bought a Performance Center 27-8 (yes, with a hillary hole) with 3.5" barrel, bright nickel finish and 8-shot cylinder...I was impressed with it...

Found this one at a LGS last year to go with my 6-inch. It's not quite mint but it's close enough for me.

My barrels are pinned. My magnum cylinders are recessed… my hammers have a nose. I will be after a couple of 586s.. but they will have ham and noses, and most likely be no dash.
4 inch blue and 4 inch nickel.
A couple of the Cimarron Uberti on the way, but apart from those, I’m a pre 1982 guy.
You wouldn’t think it would be such a snob about it having just begun collecting, but even though I next to nothing about any of this just 20 months ago, I still knew I wanted recessed cylinders, and a pinned barrel.
Even though I had never fired a gun until Dec 2023, I remember way back decades ago, being in England, and still having an interest in the Smith & Wesson, and seeing the new Model 29’s in photos where the chambers were not recessed… there was no small element of disappointment when I discovered they had stopped doing this, because for me, it was one of the coolest features about the replicas and models that I had even though I had never even seen the real thing. As minor as it is, it was still something that I felt took away from those old classics when they stopped.
