Pre Mixed 2 Cycle Fuel

No ethanol, Stihl oil, sea foam or Stabil has worked for me. I keep about 20 gallons of the gas on hand for the 4 stroke mowers and mix 1 gallon at a time for the 50:1 needs of my Stihl gear. I drain the gas from my saw, as it gets used the least. The weed eater and blower get used right regularly year round, as do the 4 strokes, so I don’t run them dry.

I have an old Stihl blower and it doesn't like the modern gas with ethanol in it. I bought 'Aspen' premixed gas which was better (but still not great). The more modern Tanaka hedgecutter is fine with mix-your-own 2-stroke.

Living rural I store some gas for emergencies my mix method is to make my own. I keep None ethanol gas with good stabilizer in it and rotate it out to keep it fresh. For all my 2 stroke tools and toys I use Steihl synthetic oil. I make it up in 1 gallon amounts. Use a mixing cup and pour it in the oil, add the correct amount of stabilized gas and I'm ready to go.

Due to medical issues its getting much harder to pull start equipment and I now do not need as much gas as I use a good Steihl battery powered chainsaw. Soon to add leaf blower and lawnmower!

Since the fuel mixture is the power AND the lubrication, If the gas to oil mixture in not right for the engine and application, you can toast a 2-cycle engine in about 30 seconds
I used to “eyeball” the mixture and just keep topping off the can. I only used my chainsaw every year or two. It ran fine. Until it didn’t. Ended up with scored cylinder wall on a low hour Stihl. Lesson learned. I use the premix.

I'm pretty lazy but I guess I never thought it was that big of a hassle to mix up some two stroke fuel. It takes less than a minute to make a 2-1/2 gallons and it has always worked great in all my different tools and 2 cycle engines. I never put Staybil in the can either but my garage never freezes.

It may not freeze but it does get changes in humidity and temperature fluctuations. I have 2 garages one under the house the other about 80' from the house. For safety considerations I keep all my dangerous items there!

Have you ever seen a fuel tank suck in and then a day or so later revert back to normal configuration? Things do affect your fuel!
