No gun? Let's drink.

Have had to wait to drink until I stopped taking my antibiotics. I'm done now!
Tonight, we will be starting slow. Going head-to-head in the initial tasting: Buffalo Trace and Knob Creek 9. I will report back on the results of my research. Not right away, you understand, but maybe tomorrow. ;)

Enjoyed both bottles. The BT was everything people say it is. Smooth, approachable and sweet. The KC has a little more proof so it's a little more, shall we say, aggressive. Different, but still very good. The next battle will be a little while, as I am waiting for an online order. Stay tuned for Eagle Rare 10 vs. E.H. Taylor small batch.

Very interested to hear about the Knob Creek 9, I have a some on order.

One of my bartenders offered ma a sample of some high-dollar Jack Daniels Single-Cask 135-proof stuff. Smelled like cheap rubbing alcohol from the drug store. He said no one had been able to take a shot without gagging. But I am a professional, so down it went. It burned, tasted exactly like rubbing alcohol would, and was a sorry example of a Jack Daniels product. But I didn't gag. They were impressed. I was not.

Heard good things about the Heaven Hill and the Holiday, so I figured to give them a try. Same with the Old forester and the Frey Ranch.
You can't go wrong with any one of those selections. All are very good whiskeys in their own right. I'm currently sipping on a Dark Pumpernickel Rye made by Middle West Spirits, out of Ohio. It's a pretty good Rye whiskey at only 96 proof !

Haven't tried any ryes as of yet. Might have to give that one a try.

I'd you're looking for a rye…Whistle Pig 10 yr…was my first rye, a neighbor gifted me for helping him install a wood stove (that was scheduled for 2 hrs and lasted 6 hrs). And ruined me for any others…
