Hot day today

I share the pain, lihpster. Air conditioning isn't really needed here in "Wetstern" WA. There are a few days each summer that we break mid-80's and maybe go over 90. On those days, I ponder adding air conditioning. Not a small feat as thanks to hydronic heat; no ductwork in the house. I could put in mini splits, but the "heat wave" soon passes and I abandon the idea until next year. Then the cycle repeats. FWIW, it's 58 as I write this.

Stay cool bro'
Supposed to hit 91 here today (Fraser Valley, BC, inland from Vancouver). which is about as hot as it normally gets. (The heat dome of 2021 was a real exception at 100º, with a repeat temp. in 2022) Oddly it hit 90 on May 28, which was really unusual.

No A/C here but after the heat dome I trenched in an earth tube- 120' of 6" PVC pipe buried 6' down, with an inlet in the field and a centrifugal fan where the line comes in the basement, 6" spiral duct up the stairs and blowing out into the main room. It's a small, open plan house with a cathedral ceiling, so relatively easy to heat and cool, plus I have a 52" ceiling fan in the main room and one in the upstairs loft bedroom. Won't keep it at 75º today but it will knock several degrees off, and it only draws about 200W. If I were to build again I'd use the same principle, but have done more research and would use a more effective system from scratch, with 3 or 4 shorter tubes about 10' deep. Heat pumps are all very well but, like central A/C, draw a lot of power, and even in traditionally hydro-rich BC, we're already running short. BC Hydro has had to buy power for the last 3 years; 22% last year.

Hot again today and tomorrow, too. Luckily, the humidity is at about 35% right now. It'll get up to near 70% when it cools off tonight. But, that's when I'm running fans with the windows open. That means that even though the house is closed up my handy hygrometer says it's 60% inside the house. It got up to 86 degrees here in the house yesterday before I could open it up and cool it down. I have to go to the store later. Luckily I have A/C in the car.
Good thing I have the curtains closed. Nobody needs to see me hanging out, buck naked. It even weirds out, Goose, the cat.

F this heat , getting too old for this sh\%. I work outside every day and it isn't fun anymore. Praying for a nice fall tho here in the north east.

Got up to 104 today. Too effing hot for this geezer. I want rain.

Only made an official 108°F today. Big heat warning for Tuesday from the Weather Service, they are looking for 111°F in Vegas. That probably translates as 115°F in the Colorado Valley in places like Bullhead City and Laughlin, and near 120°F in Death Valley.

We really cooled off and it barely got to 80 today after a cool night in low 60's. Supposed to be in mid to high 70's for next ten days.

"But it's a dry heat..." Ironically, probably with much the same result as at absolute zero- all movement ceases, if not molecular, then sentient.

Dry heat, just like in a pizza oven. We're cooling down today, 98, but I bet it goes higher.

I knew it!! It's 103 right now. Forecast, another word for guess.

It just hit 111°F (44°C for my metric readers) in Las Vegas.

Edit:

Weather bloke just said we hit 112°F. Thank goodness for 5% humidity.

The last week or so has not been as bad here as it had been. Thunderstorms are keeping things away from the 100 mark. It rained a little probably five times today and we probably aren't through.
