Wanna impress your buddies?

My grandmother had a word that would describe the piece; "tacky." Other terms like gaudy, vulgar and tasteless also come to mind. And yes, I would rather display my Hi Point to my friends than that.

One of the gun shops that I frequent has a cheaper version of an engraved "gold" 1911 for sale in his case, right by the front door, for the last two years. I think it is priced in the three or four thousand dollar range. It is a conversation piece; it brings out the comedian in many of the people that enter the shop.

I do find it a bit surprising that someone would post the piece then get their drawers in a wad over negative feedback.

It almost makes me think of a patient that decides to have a little "enhancement" done at the plastic surgeon.

A little bit is probably tasteful....But when the customization covers the entire body, not so much.

My finish and custom wants on the gun would be 3 things:

1. Pin up girls on the hand grips, really classy ones...well endowed.
2. When the trigger is pulled, the tops of the pin up girls clothing come down
3. When the hammer resets, the tops come back up

Otherwise...no deal

I don't recall saying *I* was enamored with the $125K gun, did I? No, I did not.

I see beauty in a lot of things I personally would not own. I appreciate the hard work in hand engraving, fitting & finishing on many guns that I would not buy (or could afford to).

Nor do I haunt a thread simply to voice my displeasure on a firearm. If *I* don't like it, *I* simply exit the thread & leave it to others tpo admire. See how easy that is?

Based on your posts, you may be taking people's responses to a pic of a gun you posted personally. I thought it was an interesting picture, people are just giving their opinion of a gun like that. That's how internet forums work.

Me, personally? No.

But I DO find offense when someone trashes the skill, effort & time it took for an engraver and/or gun smith to build something. That's why I mentioned using the "not my cup of tea" comment rather than "what a waste of a gun" or words to that effect. I have used that very thing when someone posted a "look what I bought" thread. I might think it's uglier than sin, but I won't insult neither the buyer or the builder.

I am well versed in how internet forums work. I've been banned from several of them, most notably AR-15 dot com. They banned me twice.............

Howsabout a $125K 1911?

Unfinished, so the owner gets to pick the finish. Includes a display case & personal delivery by the owner.

Engraving is by a Ukraine guy now in the States. He's exclusively on KRC's payroll for them only.

Pics don't do it justice.

KRC Firearms, Arkansas.

...of course you'll have to wrestle a drug cartel to get it.
There's tasteful engraving, then there's this.
