About a year or so back, I posted a thread asking is a run of the mill shooter grade model 10 a $400 gun now? And got pretty much a yes. I am a dinosaur that remembers buying lots of old functionally excellent old cop model 10's that were finish challenged for well under 200 bucks, and for the longest time couldn't bring myself to fork over $300 let alone $400 for just a simple model ten.
While finally fate shined on me and i have one one the way with an auction price of under $200. Once you add tax and shipping it is more like $250 but I can live with that. I have bought a lot of rough on the outside guns over the years and have never had one not live up to my performance expectations so hope this one will too. Should have it in hand in a week or so!

I've only bought a few guns new. Either they are in great shape or I'll accept some slight cosmetic artifacts if it will get me a price I can afford. I sold my model 10 so I could buy my 686 (pristine) and later I bought another model 10 that a little wear on the outside.

Getting exciting! According to the ups tracking, the gun was supposed to show up next week. I get home this evening and the door had a UPS tag stuck to it, stating I missed delivery and can wait for next delivery day attempt or pick up at local location!

And I can remember when a used M&P could be had for $30-$35 too :) Things have certainly changed

I paid $449 for my model 64 in 2021, looked at a 10-5 at a pawn shop for $399. Bought it immediately because it wasn't a 10-5 it was a 4 screw late 1956 M&P. Most I see in nice shape are $600-$800
Both of mine cleaned up very nice. My 64 is an overseas LE trade in, A guy at the range recognized my pre model 10 as he was friends with the late owner (his kids sold all 20 of his revolvers to the pawn shop)
$400 is a terrific price for today, I remember best up ones for $75-$85 and nice ones at $125

I too remember those days well. With the first wave of police trade-ins when semi's came on strong in the mid- to late-1980s, cheap revolvers were easily found. Colts were out there too, just not as many as the Model 10s.

During that time, the ones priced at $250+ were almost a pristine condition. Hardly ever was there a box though. Quite often the police guns would come with a leather duty holster. Holsters were about only good for protecting it in the safe, not for carry.

I remember some guys wanted the HB models, others preferred the penciled ones. When I got mine, I went with the HB model. I usually use it with wadcutters, which it shoots really, really well when I do my part.

I remember the joy when the Hong Kong police models came in, right before covid maybe? Seems like I recall them selling quickly.

Ahhhh, if I only knew then what I know now.................... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Bobsguns never a good idea to store a gun in a holster. The leather can absorb or retain moisture and result in significant rust
