I got bit by the Jet bug in 1975, I heard they were discontinuing the Jet so I ran out and ordered one. got a 4" Jet for $200.00 and paid a premium to get it. Then 2004, paid $485 W/22 cyl 6". 2020, paid $1000 for a 8 3/8th inch. 2021, paid $1150 for another 6". 2024, I paid $800 for a 6". 2025, paid $990 for a 6". AS you can see Jets didn't seem to come up for sale until the 2000s. Mostly 6 inchers, One of my 6' Jets is nickeled don't remember which one. Seems like they are running in the $1000 range + or -. Anyway, I have the bug so I keep buying them If they are priced right.

PS, The 4 inch is way louder than 30 carbine. Huge fireball.

If someone got it for $525 ide say they did very well. I have 4 jets and like like them. Remind me of my 30 Carbine ruger blackhawk.
I'm wondering if there was something wrong with it. Don't they go for quite a bit more than $525? My knowledge of M53's is nowhere near being up to par.

I had no idea, they came in a 4" version. I had seen a picture of an 8 3/8 nickel in the Jeff Cooper paperback "Cooper On Handguns (1974). That's been my bible for years. I can assume that you didn't bid on this one then?

Believe or not there are some people in the world that do. Imagine that.
My 6" Jet was an attention getter the last time I went to the range. I reload but always take a box of factory loads (no one shoots my reloads by me) and if a fellow shooter become inquisitive I let me try 3 factory rounds. Word got around fast. I used up the factory loads but made a lot of new friends.

He asked a question, I gave MY answer.

Believe it or not, the world is full of differing opinions.

From a shooter's standpoint, the .22 Jet is a total waste of $$. From a collector's standpoint, maybe, maybe not. But those questions weren't asked, were they??????????????

That's true I did. Your answer is about the same as when someone asks a question about a product and then someone else says I don't know. Why bother? What's the point of that? Is that helpful? No, not in the least. I asked if any one here bid on the M-53 because it appears that there are several members here that are interested in them. There appears to be at least 2 here that are. I kind of am but will never buy one. I do agree with you about both the shooters and collectors standpoint though. I wouldn't have the patience to use the inserts and would never reload for the Jet ammo.

Someone got a steal!
I did not know about this auction site.
Now I do.
Thanks.
525 for a 53 is great.

I guess I'm after an 8".

Both my 6 and 4 came with no 22 LR cylinders but I managed to locate two. One on here.
Not easy to find.
The 6" for but had a slight rub and the 22 LR would also hang up some. It is at the smith now along with the 4". The cylinder didn't for with the current yoke.
We'll see what he says.
I may need another K frame yoke but we'll see.

It's a "hibid" auction house in Geneva NY. They have a Sportsmans auction every other month. You can go back and look on their site to 2017 and see what they had. That's where I got my M24-6 that started it all for me.

When I was in the police academy in '72 we had a "Shoot whatchabrung day" I took my M-53 6". There was a guy demoing some of the first body armor, ballistic nylon and fiberglas. He had a panel hung on a barrel with an inch of Duxseal behind it to simulate tissue. He asked if anyone had a .22. Nobody stepped up, so I put up my hand (he hadn'y specified .22rf) and stepped up. When I touched it off, at about 7 yards, everyone's eyes got big. The little slug went through the vest panel, the Duxseal and the first wall of the barrel. The vest guy yelled "what the hell was that??" and I said .22 Jet. He said "that will go through anything and it doesn't count!!"
Good day for a laugh. Wish I still had the 53.

I've shot my 6" 53 with the old green box Remington and the new PPU. The PPU is considerably milder. Both were very accurate but the old stuff really gets your attention. Have not used the LR cylinder or the inserts at all. I have K22 Masterpieces for 22 LR.

It'll count if you're wearing body armour and get hit with a 22 Jet!
