Favorite Range Bag?

My range bag is from Bagmaster. I bought it in the very early 1990's and have used it ever since. I've had it so long that foam padding that is between the layers of nylon in the pistol rugs has crumbled! The crumbled foam does not affect the functioning of anything. My money was well invested.

I use the LA Police Gear "Tactical Bailout Bag". Works great and was less than $30. I bought is to replace my original Bailout Bag but it was bigger than the original so it became a range bag. The original bag was perfect for the stuff I needed daily in my patrol car. In retirement it still works well for EDC stuff!

I am the guy who carries everything but the kitchen sink to the range. I've worn out more range bags than I can count. Found this GPS Handgunner Range Pack and it is amazing. A little pricey but it is great. Only mod. I've made is to the high density foam 5 pistol divider in bottom center. I took a large sharp kitchen knife and cut it into 2 sections so if I only need to take 2 or 3 pistols, I only use the appropriate section and then have the remaining space for ammo. A ton of pockets to keep everything organized. Even has it's own rain cover incorporated into the top pouch.

Would a 6" N-frame fit in that?

Research lead me to the Osage River Tactical Range Bag because it had all the features I wanted in a range bag. I have no trouble carrying multiple handguns, tools, and 500 rounds of ammo along with safety gear and targeting materials on range days.

I use the big plastic Tidy Cat cat litter containers.
Waterproof, tough, free, and don't attract unwanted attention if someone sees it in my truck while parked away from home.
And comes with a sturdy carrying strap/handle.

I use a piece of carry-on sized luggage as a wheeled range bag.
The wheels really help get all that weight out to the range.

I use a wheeled tool box. Customized for my needs. Not the smallest or largest box, I chose the medium size because I knew when filled with two or three revolvers and ammunition it would be light enough for me to lift into my vehicle.

Currently, my brother is using it while he gets ready for competition this summer.

I've been using this Samsonite briefcase since the late 80s. It will carry a couple of pistols and a couple of boxes of ammo, along with all of the other related essentials that get hauled to the range. I never forget targets, a stapler, tape, etc., and it is about as incognito as it gets. Being that it is Samsonite, It will probably last longer than I will.
It gets supplemented with a tool bag for ammo and a multi pistol hard case for really long days at the range.

Good idea. Ever thought of painting it?

I carry my bullet casting rig in one. It goes on vacation with me. With it, I can spend a quiet day in the campground making boolits.:)

Glenwolde: "Would a 6" N-frame fit in that?"

Unfortunately it is not deep or wide enough to fit a 6 in revolver.

Well that makes it useless to me. Dang.

Somebody needs to make a range bag oriented towards revolvers. It's most of what I shoot. Realistically, for me, two guns and 300-400 rounds of ammo is all I want to carry in a single bag.

I occasionally shoot some autos but I really don't need a bunch of magazine pockets. I use the GunMate 1919687 Range Bag. I've had it for years and it's held up perfectly for such an inexpensive bag. Less than $30 on Amazon. I paid like $20 years ago. It's just the right size if you only take two guns.

I have a black range bag that is marked Smith & Wesson, I put too many handguns in it to comfortably carry without cursing and I always put in 2-6 more guns than I end up shooting.
My friend ordnanceguy has a hard sided large plastic tub with a top shelf for cleaning gear, no matter how much or how little it has in it it requires me to help move it.

I've used the Explorer Tactical range bag for a couple of years. It is durable and has more than enough pockets and pouches to store just about everything. That being said, if I ever find a backpack version, I'll switch. That one carry strap always seems to slip off my shoulder when most inconvenient. Black canvas tanker tool bag with a hard bottom from the Army/Navy surplus store. Just big enough for 2 or 3 guns and a couple of boxes of ammo, has loops on the inside for small tools like dental picks and screwdrivers, etc. and it has exterior pockets on the outside with flaps. My buddy calls it my purse because it goes with me whenever and whenever. Next time you're at the surplus store look for one, I think there'll be some who really like it.

The cat litter labeling is part of it's appeal and what makes potential thieves ignore it.

I'm another take everything but the kitchen sink to the range guy. It doesn't take long to load up though. Here's most of the gear:

The small Craftsman tote box holds our hearing protection, rimfire ammo, a few tools, mag loader and overflow mags that don't fit the other cases. The doro case holds 5 pistols and 15 mags. The two Plano ammo boxes hold 9 mm (1150 rounds) and .223 (625 rounds). The cloth case holds the AR and 3 mags for it. I don't have a case yet for the 15-22. The plastic jug is used to collect brass since I reload.
