Favorite Range Bag?

Due to the laws here in Australia, we cannot transport everything in the one range bag. Handguns must have a trigger lock or similar disabling device whilst transported. They also must be transported in a "sturdy lockable container". Ammo must also be transported in a separate locked container. So everything else goes into my Police Duty Bag to the range.

Once at the range, the items can then be put into the one bag. But generally, depending on the match/competition, I might take all three.

Need a range cart to carry all that!

My range bag I purchased at a gun show in Medina OH in the early 90's for around $10. It's a CCI promotional bag and has held up very well concidering it's around 30 years old

I've gone through a number of range bags over the last few years. Now I only use an Orca Tactical Range bag for my VP9SK. It's big enough to keep my pistol (in a rug that has 5 mag loops) 10 extra mags in loops, a small trauma/first aid kit, mag loader, electronic ear protection (attached to the strap), small gun cleaning kit, power bank for my phone, small binoculars, Olight, multitool, and a few other little things I might need in an emergency. It has enough room to add 200 extra rounds of ammo if I think I'll need it.

I liked it so much that I bought a second one for my VP9. I've equipped it with the identical contents of the first bag, so I know that whichever bag I grab will contain everything I need.

The only downside to the bag is that it's a bit on the expensive side. But I don't mind paying a few extra bucks to get exactly what I want.

I use hard side cases for all the guns. Ammo and accessories go into an Action Packer and a wooden ammo crate my father made for me. I tend to take 7-12 guns with me when I go. Need a pickup truck.
I own one of the Uncle Mike's range bags. I just use it for carrying my discs for disc golf.:D

Several people mentioned padded sleeves or gun socks. What do you all use to hold your handguns within your range bag? A few times I've put guns in the bag loose and they've gotten scratched.

Inside my range bag I use either a typical "gun rug" or "gun sock" for transporting handguns. Either one works for me and for the ranges I shoot at. Basically, it depends on what the handgun is stored in the safe in. In and out, no need to transition.

My large range bags over the years have been a bunch of nondescript duffel bags which were more or less typical airline carry on bags or drag bags. One of mine in present use says "NRA" on it but it's not a real, purpose built range bag, per se, but it's a carry on type of bag. I do have a smaller, purpose built range bag, slot pockets for magazines, etc., but it still has the "new" tags on it. I'll use it eventually. I think. ;)

Rifles ALWAYS are carried to the range in proper rifle cases.
