Looking at pistol racks
I'm eyeing the racks offered by Cambell Industrial and ManAbout Racks. Does anyone have experience with either of these manufacturers?

Great links. Both look great to me. Either one would be a great addition to any gunsafe.

I like the looks of the man racks you listed. I use wire racks I bought from brownells.

I have the 'man about racks' racks. He used some pictures I sent him in his testimonial section. They are the best. He does take a while, but the wait is worth it.

if you're good with a saw just make your own, custom sized and fit to the layout of your safe.

I've been giving that some thought as well.
Thanks for the feedback, gents.

I wonder if the padding material is cloth? If so, might it hold moisture?
I use vinyl coated 4 and 6 gun racks from Midway, they may be the same product Brownells offers.
I'm also partial to uniquetek.com they offer wire over-the-shelf hangers - a coated steel rod extends into each gun barrel.

I looked into the wooden racks, thought about making my own, and decided on these stackable ones at Midway:
Hyskore Stackable 7-Gun Pistol Rack Vinyl Coated Steel Gray - MidwayUSA
Can’t go wrong for $13 each. I wanted stackable due to limited shelf space in the safe. They hold everything from a NAA 22lr, semi-autos, and at least J-N frames.

Here is the link showing a photo of this work of art that he did without spending much money.

Racks like that make good use of the room on your shelves. I have the coated wire ones in mine covering two shelves but they got filled up too fast.
I'd think the stackable ones might be better if you have the room and plan on adding much to your collection.
Either of the ones you mention look good although I like the wire ones as the gun's finish doesn't rest on oil absorbing cloth as mentioned.

I purchased a "Versatile" brand 6 gun rack from Midway. I looked at many racks before buying this model. I have a 24 gun safe, but have just 2 long guns. I had a shelf made to lay on top of the long gun racks and purchased the same color felt from Hobby Lobby that was inside the safe. Perfect match. Covered the shelf and laid the rack on top. Also, for lighting the inside of the safe, I purchased several lights from Wally World called Dot-it made by Sylvania. They are about 5 inches long and are LED battery operated. They have the touch sensors to turn on and off. They include velcro self adhesive pads that will hold very well to the felt.

OK. If you were wondering what is in the rack in photo #2 From LtoR, 629-6, 27-2, 28-2, 686-4, 63-4,65-5 LS, Laying on the shelf, 60-15 Pro, and XD-40. (Got a great deal on the XD-40). Google Versatile Rack, you won't be disappointed.

I like Markeb's rack...it seems more streamlined and you can store stuff under it...Personally, I don't use racks since I only rotate two carry guns and keep my Kimber TLE also at the ready...the rest are in cases or socks on the shelves....

There's a forum member here that goes by hanau that was making custom pistol racks. I've got one. Solid oak if I'm not mistaken. Shouldn't be too hard to find if you search the classifieds.
Just a thought...

Hope this is ok, but I sent the owner of 'Man about Racks' the link to this thread. I am a customer and am very pleased. Here is what he replied to me. I am posting this with his permission. We are both named Rick, just to prevent confusion.
Thank you Rick, and thanks for the link, I enjoy reading firearm forum discussions, especially this one. I'm glad you were able to fill every one of those slots, you're a fortunate man to have such a nice collection, I'm trying to get there myself....lol. I'd love to chime in on the S&W thread, but I wouldnt feel right, some might view it as being too self promoting. I dont like the comment about my rack possibly having cloth padding though, thats why I use 3/16" thick synthetic Olefin padding, its chemical and moisture resistant, and won't mar the guns finish, but you already know that. Thanks again for the link, I'll follow it and see how much is added to it.
Regards,
Rick (I deleted last name)

He is one of mine. 3 1/2 '' Cedar and small nails up from the bottom for the uprights. As you can see it holds 10. Of course things come and go. Holds revolvers nicely.

Now that looks nice. Simple, inexpensive, and effective. Do you recall what spacing dimension you used, and/or your safe width? I'm not home this week so cannot check my safe width but it looks about the same size as yours. I'm guessing if I made the slots wide enough to fit my Hwy patrolman the rack would accommodate most any handgun I'm likely to have.

I'm sort of intrigued by the pistol hangers that go under a shelf. I do not own any, but I think the idea is sound.

Doesn't cedar leach some kind of acid?

Another “Versatile” rack user. I bought the stacking kit for mine. I ended up measuring how wide the shelf is to squeeze in a ten gun rack next to a four gun rack to maximize the space usage. While the racks don’t sag or bow much at all, I’m worried at just how much weight the shelf will hold. I’m thinking of replacing the shelves with ¾ inch plywood. I have no doubt that if I pull back the felt from the existing shelf it will reveal some very craptastic OSB is holding up my collection. I don’t care for that thought at all. I bought my racks from a vendor on Amazon since the price was much better.

I use plastic coated wire plate racks from Wal-Mart. Simple, inexpensive, (couple of bucks), holds eight handguns each. You do need to stagger N-frames, cylinders are a little too big to line up all N's. Everything else fits great.

I look for these every time I'm i Wally World, and never see anything that would work.
I'd make some out of wood, but too many times I've seen wood in contact with my tools rust the tools--I haven't figured out a good material to use to cover the wood to protect the finish yet.

They're in the section they call "Kitchen Gadgets", I believe. they work great, I see no need for anything more.

I have been using these Hyscore foam racks and they have worked out well. The guns can be stored vertical or horizontal as shown. I like the look of wood racks but am paranoid about the effect that tannins or acid in the wood might have on metal.
