best truck in the U.S.?

I have never been a Truck kind of guy. I had a Chevy Blaser, and my last vehicle was a 1987, yes 87 Pathfinder 4x4. It now has 380,000 miles and is still driving, It is getting long in the tooth however.

When I was in Africa on my last trip my wife bought a 1992 Ford F 150, from the next door neighbor to her parents. She bought it for a "Farm Truck". I started driving it to the deer lease and found out that I liked a turck... It is red/cream 2 tone colored... [I hate red vehicles].

Well a year or so goes buy and a buddy offers me his 1998 Ford F 150 "hot rod" pickup for a price I cannot refuse. I call it the "Hot Rod" pickup becaues it has an "elevated" lift and has big tires, a performance exaust and a KLN aircleaner. And it is RED, RED all over...

It does have 268,000 miles, but burns no oil, the oil and transmission fluid does not smell burnt, and it runs great... It is the XLT Extended cab version. Dang if I do not like it...

So now I have 2 RED Ford F 150 Pickups...

And it looks like I will be buying a 1999 Ford Expedition 4x4, with the 5.4 Trition, again for a price I cannot refuse.

My first car was a 1957 Ford 4 door with the Thunderbird 312 Y8 with the Holly carburator. [Y 8, NOT V8, look it up...]

So after all these years I am back to FORDS.

Well you know what they say, FORD, First On Race Day...

Finally! Someone with some taste/sense! Looking very sharp there. Not into the topper for myself but everyone's got their situation. Not often do I see another Oxford White like mine, especially without "digital mud"... Coming up on 57K in mine. You?

Got 49K and rolling on original BFG tires, roll Kelly Safari studded snow most of the year. Ordered mine with everything except sun-roof, tail-gate step, and "digital mud" sticker.

There's a 2012 red super crew Raptor rolling around here - love the color but prefer the shorter wheelbase of ours...

Hope to see you out there somewhere!

Hello DesertFox, where are you that you roll on studs the majority of the year?

I have just 16K on this one after one year. I skipped the digital mud because, to me, it looks too....TonkaToy like.
Besides the lighting I also raised the front, to level, and put an exhaust cutout on it.

I know what you mean about the topper, in fact it's the first one I have had in over thirty years of owning pickups. I can't believe I waited so long. It's like a whole extra vehicle back there now.
I even put a 'Bed Rug' back there, which is as nice as anyone says it is. It's basically for the K-9s when we are traversing the backcountry. We camp out of it also.

Yeah, for a family of four and two dogs it's a little tight but the long wheelbase four door limits the off road ability. Always a compromise.

I'll swap back to the Kelly Safari studder mudders in early Oct (I think the 15th is legal) and they'll be on until May 15th. Needed them once after that, this year, but wasn't a big deal.

I'm in Montana.

The digital mud's price tag of $1K was outrageous. I'll get a full snow camo wrap later if I feel like it.

My buddy's black one in the photo has had the whole Hennessy Velociraptor 575 treatment and an exhaust that absolutely rumbles. He has had some reliability issues, all due to hopping it up. No thank. I'll take mine as is.

Been drooling over the 40" Rigid lightbar...

I have a super clean Ford F-150 one and a 1/2 door x 2. Six foot bed, all original with 130,k miles. I love it, looks good, drives great and solid as a rock
2004 Xlt, carpet floors and folding back seats
Love it

best truck in the U.S.?

A paid for one in my driveway.
Currently a 2011 Tundra 4x4
Previous 2001 Ford F350 4x4 Dually Diesel.

Worlds apart but both were for the purpose at hand.

It’s all about personal preference, but I’ve had good luck with a Dodge Dakota and two Rams, a 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi and a 2500 with 5.9 Cummins.

I ordered a new F-150 in 1999 and kept it for 5 years and 165K miles and it was a great truck with very few problems. Next was a new 2004 Titan and kept it for 10 years and 262K miles and it was an even better truck and I had virtually no repairs until about 200,000 miles. In 2018 I bought a new Ram quad cab V6 and its smoother, quieter, and generally better than the previous trucks and gets 21 MPG in the city and I have 62K trouble free miles on it. I's got power windows/locks/mirrors, tilt, cruise, heated mirrors, keyless entry, backup camera, touch screen info-tainment, trailer towing, bedliner, and I paid about $24K brand new which was way cheaper than what I could get around here for the other brands.

I’ve had a few,my current 2015 Ram Laramie super cab with the 5.7 Hemi
Really like it and it’s serving me well.
My prior was an 05 GMC Sierra and I had no complaints with that one either.
I think my all time favorite though not really a truck was my 97 GMC Suburban.
I really liked that and it was a great truck to drive. I hauled a lot with that and did some towing with it and it did it well. That is one I miss!
Always liked GM but I got the ache for a Hemi after we purchased the wife’s 2010 Chrysler 300C with the Hemi.
No regrets with either! ;)

My first Ford pickup is a 2012 crew cab F-150 3.5 Ecoboost....
It's got 175,000 on it and it's first set of replacement plugs.

Hwy 20.5 mpg / towing a sixteen foot pipe trailer 12.5.
(375 horsepower and 470 lb. -ft. of torque.)

This could very well be my last pickup truck...It could outlast me for sure.
