Two words:

Eeeewww!

The 5.11 Double Duty TDU belts in 1½ and 1¾ inch widths are sturdy enough to carry my S&W 686-6 in a pancake holster without letting it pull away from my body. They are black on one side and either green or coyote on the other. Neither of mine exceeded $20.00 before sales tax. Another good thing about them is that they don't stretch when they get wet.

Here are a few samples of what a REAL belt should look like.Cut from the back of the cattle, and a full 1/4 thick-no filler needed.
These was made by me a few years back.
Thank you,
Henry

2. Brain tanning, utilizes the brain of the animal in solution with water. Resulting leather is soft and pliable. Native Americans believed that each animal's brain was sufficient to tan that animal's hide.
When my daughter Liz was on a fourth-grade field trip, some self-important guy was explaining brain tanning and stated that every animal had enough brains to tan its own hide. Liz immediately said, "What about dinosaurs?" Her teacher laughed. The explainer guy was not amused. Her dad sure was--make your Daddy proud, girl.

My old one fell apart after a few years, so I grabbed another one..it says genuine leather on the inside, but it feels much more"plasticy" then my last one...and much stiffer...anyone pick up one of the lately?

My GF grabbed one. She said it feels stiffer these days too.

I bought a carhartt on amazon. It was less than $30 and I have been wearing it for several years. I expect it to last longer than me.

I bought a Carhartt belt thinking it would be tough like their pants and jackets. Nope...came unstitched at the lead end. Worse belt I ever bought.

Apparently the Dickies belt of today is not what it used to be. Is it possible the Dickies belts at Wal-Mart are different!

It wouldn't suprise me if Walmart has items made to thier specs to save money, thus offering a great price reduction to the consumer.

I got an El Paso Saddlery belt about 10 years ago. Wear it on my work pants; several times a week. I'm nowhere near wearing it out; maybe in another 10-15 years or so. Very comfortable with a holster carrying a K or N frame, particularly in the cross-draw, which I like because of my long arms.

Most of the custom holster folks I've dealt with make belts as well. You might pay a bit, but they will last a lifetime (or at least until you add a few inches to the waistline!). Simply Rugged makes some good leather and you can even get a buckle that will hold extra ammo!

I ordered a couple of belts from "The Beltman" a few years ago. I thought they were the best belts ever made, but lately I've come to the conclusion they use an inferior grade of leather, as it seems they have shrunk after all these years. I don't know how it could have happened, unless it's just a plot to get me to buy more belts.

I just ordered a couple more from a local company that describes them as "Amish Made." I thought I'd give them a try. Haven't gotten them yet, but I was smart and ordered them longer to allow for shrinkage. Think they'll fool me do they. I'm wise to that game.

That is the case. Walmart contracts with most major manufacturers to build to their specifics. . I know in the case of small appliances and power tools and mowers and stuff they are Walmart specific model #'s. You won't ever be able to find a lower price on a Walmart item somewhere else (even though they look the same) because model #'s won't match.
