Shot my first Glock model 26 today, here are my thoughts and impressions......

My (original config) Hellcat is often carried in my cargo shorts pocket (in a pocket holster of course) during the summer. Actually, I'd say that it is in my pocket 90% of the time that I'm wearing pants…😜

Only have one.
43X with 15 round Shield's.
It's as reliable as me!
But I still call my SIG 365 X and X Macro my 'Combat' Pistols.
It's the Glock trigger.
Will never shoot enough or live long enough to really like it!
Did have a 23, my Son has it.
Elmer say - Three Pounds, like breaking glass.
But, but, he was talking Revolvers!
Of course he was!
But remember, I am an old revolver Guy!IMG_1544.webp

Why should cops have all the advantages? Ain't my life worth preserving too?
My Glock 26 is there for me when I need more than my 42.
Muscle memory carries over between the two.
I like short, fat, and chunky. Always have.
Ask my drinkin' buddies.

If I were in the market for a carry semiauto today I might well opt for a P365.

But I haven't been in that market for quite some time. When I was, the Glock 26 was the answer for me.

One rides in the console of my truck, and another rests in my top dresser drawer for those rare occasions when I feel the need for more than a snub in my pocket.

Considering I own every variety of holster I might need, more spare parts than I'll ever require, and enough magazines to ensure my great-grandkids will have a sufficient supply—not to mention having expended many cases of ammo in practice—I see no reason to switch.

Yeah, it's chunky compared to its current competitors, but it remains a damn good gun.

Everybody has an opinion and mine is that the Glock 43X with the S15 mags is about the best CCW ever. Most important thing with a self defense pistol is reliability and I don't think anything beats the Glock models for that. Easy carry in an IWB holster especially one like the Milt Sparkes Criterion or similar.

If you guys are pocket carrying a Glock 26 you must have some REALLY loose fitting jeans and a good belt…that's a pocketful!

I have not worn jeans in years; mostly cargo pants, and when needed, dress pants. It is not at all difficult to pocket carry the 26/27/33 if you dress properly for the circumstances.

I agree with not carrying a 380 but sometime pocket carry is the solution to not carrying a gun. There are times I wear a "bathing suit" or "sport shorts" and a Tee shirt if I am planning to work around the house that day. Here in FL they are comfortable and if I feel like jumping into our pool I just tale the T shirt off and cool off for a few minutes. If I need something and must run out to a local store, a neighbor's house or the Club House, I can just slip my P365 into the DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster and be on my merry way without the need to change into cargo shorts. I will only do that when running out to a close by location for a small amount of time, but the sport shorts do not have belt loops and pocket carry works perfectly. It is quite convenient and handy when the need arises.
I never go with out a handgun on me but not in my pocket . I know your a die hard snubby /pocket cc guy but I am not . I spend my first 40 years oin florida , collier county florida mainly . Thru my year after graduation was working for a learning the treade for building a custom homes in a part of naples know as Port Royal . My days tend to start early , get some fishing in before work at the rear of job sites . I wear long pants always on the job . An over sized T shirt tended to be the primary shirt of choice at work . for most years . IN the peak of hot weather temps in the slab could be in the low 100* range and mid afternoon 5 to 10 minute down pours . At times we changed cloths after lunch do to being wet to your boots . White sand and polish concrete floors reflect a lot of sun light !! I did wear a leather tack shop made iwb holster for some years I learned from the maker to treat it like a saddle and it will last and last . Back then My at work CC gun for 4 years was a s&w 669 but never r4eally liked it as I was a already a 1911 guy . After work and a shower my first carry handgun was a colt officers acp and 4 years later a lw commander . I know florida very well. I was also a what some at work called a swamp rat as many after work days I was checking hog traps on the way home . Built our homes as an after work job till 10:00 pm at night . Go to were we lived eat shower sleep a few hours and repeat . I always had a easy on and off holster too for quick trips to the store , 3 two 4 minutes away . During me carpenter to carpenter foreman years my tool bags ran on a old army web belt and heavy duty suspender so it hung loose around my waist to keep form pulling against me and my CC handgun .

WE sort had this conversation before . You do pocket carry I mainly do 3:00 carry but getting old and lost weight that at some point I'll carry a 9mm instead of a 40sw or 45 and then in a aiwb for my hellcat pro comp but I do have a m&p 4" compact with a dot optic assuming I will need on for CC one day . The last almost 30 years have been in western NC mountains where sweating requires serious hard work just to break a sweat but mainly to get awat from the rules for hunting as in what makes a legual swamp buggy and going fishing and dealing with a no wake zones and clot sizes changes then the importing of large scale drug importing that went on in collier county . We moved to raise our girls in a smaller rual county where crime is very limited yet big city is close enough . We into the cooler weather times now . midr 70* days and mid 50* degree nights . Built homes up here for mostly florida half backs to vacation in and now retirement has been good .

cheif38 . I know florida well . Born there an spend my first 40 years in collier county fl mainly . Fresh out of high school it was learn the building trade with a custom home builder in an area of naples know as Port Royal so working in hot weather around a white sand lot or on plished contrete that reflex the sun in to the low 100* range most of the summer . Then you get thos hot afternoon 5 to 10 minute down pours to jack the humidity a bit higher . These lots wer most on the water too . Some of use wouold show up well before work to catch a few fish for dinner . So nothing is special about floridas heat and humidity ! I was also an avid outdoorsman . hunting building swamp buggies or airboats . Built our own homes as an after hour project so wyes I know the best and worse that florida had to offer like the importing of drugs buy boat or aircraft too . After we had our girls in school we decides to move to a better environment and picked a town in western NC mountains . No more hot weather to deal with . You have to work really hard to even sweat here when 85* and lower humidity is the norm for summer and were into the mid to upper 708 for highs and low to mid 508 for nights now . I life long buddy and I built mainly vacation homes up for part time florida folks folks with money to invest ! .

I never pocket carried and have no interest in doing so and we have had this conversation before . ha

...It was the length of the barrel on the Glock 19 that caused more problems than the length of the grip on the Glock 26
What problems did the length of the barrel on the Glock 19 cause?

This is the first I have heard of any problem. I have two Glock 19s, Gen 5, and they have been 100% reliable with all ammo (same as all my other Glocks).

I now carry a Glock 23 in the front pocket of my duty cargo pants to and from work. It's a bit heavy but this is only to and from work. Occasionally I'll stop at the grocery store on the way home but pocket carry of a 23 isn't something I'd do as a matter of daily routine. I had been accustomed to carrying the S&W 64 snub so I don't really notice anything different with the Glock.
