Where are the best buffalo chicken wings?
I am a wing snob. There, I admit it. Most are just OK rising to the level of good on a few occasions. However, there is a seafood place on Amelia Island FL called Sliders that tops them all! They have the seasoning fried into the batter and are not drowned in sauce. Where do you go for wings?

drowned in sauce is much better, there is a bar local to us, called sportsman's tavern...when the right cook is in, they can't be beat. the problem is the last few years have been hit and miss as business is dropping. their location, about 5 miles from the nearest town and 10 in the other direction, is the problem.
we have wings from a bar at least once week...depending on what flavor we want decides what bar.

There is a restaurant chain called Zebb's Grill & Bar here in Upstate NY.
Their "Zebb's Original" wings are the BEST wings on the planet - ever.

A new 'Buffalo Brothers' restaurant is close to opening about 8 miles from me. I've been to one of their restaurants before and their wings were great.
Will not do my diet ANY good!

Local bar about 10 miles from home has great wings, about 13 different varieties. Thursday nite is wing nite. Might have to go this week.

In central Florida I like Beef O'Brady's nuclears, (but I like them very hot.) In upstate NY the Fairport Village Inn in Fairport, NY has very good wings.

Duh!
Here of course:
http://www.anchorbar.com/original.phpere, of course:
True story: Whilst attending NCAA hoops first round games with the Terrapins a few years ago, friends and I were approached by a local teevee crew that wanted to follow us on the "off" day. The obligatory stops (e.g. Niagara Falls) were followed by a pitstop at the Anchor. Whilst eating the reporter asked one of our number what he thought about the food. He replied: "I love these Buffalo Wings." The reporter interjected: "Ahhhhhhh, we call them wings."
Very tasty, indeed, except for the "Suicidal" version; it defys description.
Oh, yes; they were washed down with multiple bottles of "Blue."
Be safe.

You may safely predict that the best wings (they are called wings, because only those who are not from the motherland need to note the geography) are going to be north of I90, east of Lake Erie, and west of I87. The temperature of the oil is critical - if it is not hot enough, the wings are greasy. Bad stuff. The dressing has to be Blue Cheese; the filth who inflict Ranch on wing eaters should be beaten, and should those who batter the wings. You want fried chicken, go to a place that does fried chicken, which is probably well south of I70 and east of the Mississippi.

I am not a wing snob. I like good chicken wings any way you can fix them. Batter or not, fine, hot or not, fine, BBQ sauce or ranch, fine, Lemon pepper or garlic, fine. Just don't give me a pile of breast pieces and tell me they're "boneless wings". I'm not stupid and obviously a lot of folks are.

done that...it'll do in a pinch...a good wing sauce does not include texas pete. it is made from scratch.

Beef O Brady's wings are so small and overpriced.
There is a local joint near me called "the stadium" that has great wings. Big, not over battered, good buffalo sauce flavor, hot, but not ridiculously hot.
As far as "chain" places, this Florida chain called Callico Jacks has a pretty good wing too.
Hooters - blah, too greasy
Buffalo Wild Wings - ok, but overpriced
Wing House - dont like the sauce, inconsistent quality

Around Central Texas there is a small chain called Pluckers! Multiple sauces and rubs to pick from, nice sized wings, and very reasonably priced. Local AHL hockey team hands out 5 free wing coupons every time the first power play goal is scored in a game so we go all of the time. I highly recommend Pluckers if you ever visit the Austin / Dallas area. I think they even have a couple of locations in Louisiana now as well.

I take a ride at least once a week for hot wings at the Wagon Wheel in Quakertown , PA.
I did get a nice deep fryer for home so I can make my own. Use fresh wings. Season them before frying , fry till skin crisp , dip in sauce , remove and allow to cool slightly , then eat. Make my own sauce. Simply mix 1/2 Sweet Baby Rays Original and 1/2 Franks or Cholula hot sauce.

Anchor in Buffalo, NY, the originators.
I'm not a big fan of wings, but the ANCHOR has GREAT ITALIAN food too.

My favorite wings come from a couple of local places. One is Barker's, a bar and grill that caters to the yuppie crowd in Hudson, WI. No matter; they make an excellent martini and top notch wings. Their Buffalo wings are pretty good. Six is hot enough for me on a scale of 1 to 1. But their really good wings are called beer wings, or CJ wings (after the cook who introduced the recipe). Cajun seasoning and lots of garlic.
The other is Harry Singh's Caribbean Cafe, in Uptown Minneapolis. These are very hot, with Jamaican jerk seasoning and a little bit of coconut.
I am also developing a taste for stuffed Thai wings.

Right here in River City.
My house, I make the best ones or I can make them how ever you want them.
I like them when you can actually taste the chicken, not some dead fried chicken wings soaked in vinegar and hot sauce.

Sorry Rule3. I think my wife makes the best wings. I have tried some at a few places and they do not stack up to hers. But then I could be a little prejudice.

About a year or so ago USA Today ran a short list of the best wings in the country and included was the $3 Cafe in the north suburbs of Atlanta.
The skins are crispy so you don't think you're eating a lot of gooey skin.
I'm not a wing expert but the $3's will do me just fine.

Who do you think she learned how to make them from??
Nothing is better than home made. I think most of the ones from restaurants are gross. Hooters are terrible and the staff do not look like the Billboards.

I went one once, years ago with the work crowd. For some reason they thought the food was good. it was at least 50% women and they liked the wings. Might as well drink a bottle of oil and hot sauce.

For those that mentioned the Anchor Bar, here's a picture of the outside. We took some of the kids and grandkids to Niagara Falls this past summer and I wanted to go try the original wings.

Here's a picture inside. Thats the wife next to the statue.

Here's a picture of a plate of 50 wings. They ain't cheap. If I remember they were around $36 for 50 wings.
I mentioned earlier that we go to a local bar for wings and on wing nite they are $6 a dozen. And they are better than the Anchor Bar's wings.

Back in the early 70's the Anchor Bar in Buffalo had the best (only) wings in the world. Now most will tell you their Italian food is the best part of their menu. There are actually 2 Anchor Bar restaurants in the Rochester area now. Sadly, they don't make the first page of the best wings in our area.
In this area you can't swing a cat without hitting a wing joint. There are a bunch that are pretty dang good. Some have mentioned the better spots in Upstate NY; Fairport Village Inn (that's all I get there) and Zebb's (we sit at the bar on Sundays and drink beer, eat wings and watch football) But IMO, the best wings in this part of the world are at The Distillery followed closely by the Rush Creekside. And they have been for the past 30+ years.

I'm with rule on this one. I can buy some really nice wings at the local grocery. Unlike the local bar that buys the bulk packs. 325 or a little hotter in the deep fryer until they float. Season to taste. I like mine basic with a dash of Crystal on them.
Wings were always my favorite long before I ever heard of Buffalo Wings. BBQ or Fried. Come to think of it I always went for the wings on a roast too.
I gotta do some wings.

Used to be a little place we hit once a week after work for wing night, we'd order piles of them as they were a dime each. Can't find them at that price anymore.... plus they were nice and crispy, I can't find many places who make them like that so I usually don't bother.

Supposed to take the sting or bite away from the spicy wings I guess. Cleanse the palate for those fancy folks
I dislike bleu cheese and can not even smell it. I'll take Ranch or anything else! I will eat almost any thing but some of that stuff they call cheese is nasty!
Google Hooters Calender and tell me you ever saw a women like that working in a restaurant?? I would post it here but probably not allowed. They are not nude, like SI swimsuit.
