is it possible to get a revolver painted to have a metallic gold finish?

Why in the wide, wide world of sports would you want to do something like that?

Okay, let's see: You're a relative of Saddam Hussein and like his son's garrish and hideous looking guns.:)

Now maybe if the gun was an Arminius, Titan FIE, or a Gluck (as in Yuck), it would be okay, because you can't do anything to them that would ruin them any worse than the way they already are.:D

Now, now boys. Different strokes for different folks. Long as you are a consenting adult and it does not hurt anyone else, have at it, is my motto!

For a more conventional approach, here is some gold inlay on a stainless M65:

keith44spl,

I just had a firearm built by APW(COGAN)

I DON'T THINK THEY'RE STILL OFFERING THAT TITANIUM GOLD TREATMENT.

He could call them and ask.

They do really nice work.

I had a Hard Chrome finish also, beautifully done.

lol i see all those replies with sarcasm and jokes, they are funny, but im not aiming to that.
2010 my great grandfather died at 98 and on his will he basically split belongings between all the family.....i noticed something, not once did someone mention a family heirloom. I did some research and yep no heirloom.
The reason I made this thread is to get info on making the first family heirloom,
In my mind im picturing a model 500, 8in long, gold plated, engraved with our family crest and with this engraved on the barrel "Deus Benedicat Familia Mea"

It is certainly possible as I have just had my Registered Magnum (serial number 4) gold plated and had it's 6.5" barrel replaced with a 10.765" one. Actually turned out way better than I expeceted. I think that the scope I had it drilled and tapped for really sets it off.

well in that case grasshopper, your google fu is weak .. you must train in the ways of the internet ...
do NOT try to deck out a gun yourself. I strongly, and probably correctly suspect your level of patience is not of a level required of this sort of work. A "bubba'd up" gun does not an heirloom make
DO take a few days, weeks and months searching the web for shops specializing in engraving firearms. look for feedback from former clients as well as samples.

If you want to make a heirloom why not take something that your family would value and engrave that? Perhaps grandpas old boot knife or straight razor or something. Taking some random object (be it a gun or can opener) and throwing a lot of money at it would not make a heirloom in my eyes. Heirlooms are usually something that started out valuable (grandmas diamond ring she made it through the holocaust with) or something that brings back memories. If your set on the gold engraved gun, research research research. Im sure there are forums dedicated to gaudy gold plated firearms and they will be able to point you in the right direction.
