S&W prices sure ain't getting any cheaper. At gun show today I noticed the 'shooter' grade guns were very few but still pretty reasonable but once you got to the better condition guns, and those with boxes, things went CRAZY. Looking at G-broker it don't look like it is any different.
Guess I need to bite the bullet and get the better guns while I still can. Don't look like they are going to get cheaper and 1-2 years ago there was 2-3 pages of 19's on G-broker, now just a hand full...................I am ALWAYS late to the dance.:(:(:(

I think you are right. As they say, "you don't pay too much, just buy too early". If you wait, most times, they just get more expensive. If you want it, can afford it, then you are best to buy it now!

Seems the norm any more. People on this forum show a gun they bought and then the price they paid for it and I can't believe they bought it. It's almost like they just got in to guns and shooting. Some people at work basically just got into guns and think the ammo prices today are what they were a while ago. But if you see something you really want and it seems high, you may be better off buying it then waiting for a deal and the prices go higher then now. I feel the pain, Larry

Amen to that Larry. I have a very nice collection but I have been buying QUALITY guns for decades. I live very modestly and even with todays prices I can still afford a LNIB piece a few times a year, not like I could 5+ years ago. Even with todays prices they WILL go up more sooner than later.
I have 2 friends that use their collections as a retirement fund. They invest only in pre lock Smiths and are proud to show that they have beat the market many times over. Wish I would have started doing that 30 years ago instead of buying the newest cars, or the best restaurants. As Jeff Cooper once said " You buy a good gun you got it forever. Where are the last few filet mignons you ate now?"

BJoe, my son just moved to Wash. Township, how easy it is to the OGCA! His wife teaches at Kettering. Oct we will, have the NE Ohio bunch, abt 3 hrs away. It will be advertised here in the lounge abt Aug 1st. Good time, Abt 55 smith& wesson nuts attend. Larry

I like that statement about not paying too much but buying too early. Except for two dealers who have the fancy display cases and high priced S&W's and Colt's you really do not see high grade revolvers down here. The 624 44 special was my undoing and led to a 24-3 4"bbl and a 24-3 3" bbld also in 44 special. But always did like the 38 special S&W's and they sometimes can be had down here for decent money. Now what's decent money down here may be very well indecent money where you live. Frank

I see no softening in the market for S&Ws at all. Revolvers are seeing something of a resurgence right now in general for any number of reasons, and the family of S&W revolvers isn't going to decline in value any time soon IMO. I wouldn't pay whatever anyone asked for one, but I wouldn't expect to see prices roll back to some arbitrary "good old days" either.

Small world.

Went to a show yesterday and saw stuff like a CAI import Model 13, 4" for $650!! A mat re-blued Model 17 for $750 and a number of others much the same. Sheesh! I'd say these prices are getting plumb out of control, at least in my area of the country.

It is all guns, I was at the St. Charles, Mo show yesterday. Colts, S&W, Winchester, Remington, Mossberg etc. all priced to the max, or at least today's prices. I did score on a foreign gun at the right price.

Every 586/685 was at or over $750. Colt's 4K and up, saw one Python at $3400.00, 4" Nickle not new, not in the box.

$9xx.00 seems to be popular on for sale tags these days. Still I saw some folks buying guns.
