McDonalds Mighty Wings

Sal's Bird Land...heck yeah! :)

I used to go to the Sal's Bird Land on South Salina Street in the Valley (south side) section of Syracuse. Lived down there from around 1984-98.

That's a pretty rough neighborhood these days...I don't go down there unless I have to.

This is about the time where Ditrina chimes in about his ol' days up this way. He may actually be the original "Sal"!!!!:D:rolleyes:

Still a couple around up in Rochester. The sauce is available for sale by the jar at a few places. That is some seriously good (and sticky) stuff!:)

Well, I was curious. But pretty much, when I've got to have wings, I hit BWW's on boneless wing night. The Habanero Mango & the Caribbean Jerk wings are my favorites!

Rochester is where I lived for a while, grew up in Jamestown. I may have to get a few jars shipped out to me here in CO! My friends just relocated back to Rochester from here, I'll give them a shout. Might get a couple bottles of Chiavetta's BBQ sauce as well!!!

I can't imagine even trying McD "wings". I haven't had any of their 'food' for many years, no reason to start now...

How much do you want to wager on country of origin? China I'd bet.

Last time I ate at Mc Donalds the Qtr. Pounder gave me the trots. Not sure what that orange substance shaped like a cheese slice is actually madE from, but I doubt it is milk. Bleech!

I only go there in the Fall when they have the McRib.:D

Bjoe, the Mighty Wings are Bone In. Which means that honest to goodness 100% chicken wing parts.

This weekend the Mac nuggets were tested to see how much chicken they contain..............40%:eek::eek: It was all over Yahoo. The other 60%? VEINS, FAT, BONES, and my favorite CARTILAGE. :(

Those are 100% chicken parts, too... what's the problem?

If McNuggets bother you, never, ever inquire as to what's in a hot dog, or any other sausage.

My Dad worked at the Armour plant in Omaha some years before I came along. He worked in the office (he was in traffic management, now called 'logistics', his whole working life) but it was attached to the actual packing plant, & when visitors would come calling they would often ask why there was a sizable kennel right next to the packing plant.

The joke pretty much writes itself from there.

I am staying away from ANY Mac's chicken forever. This weekend the Mac nuggets were tested to see how much chicken they contain..............40%:eek::eek: It was all over Yahoo. The other 60%? VEINS, FAT, BONES, and my favorite CARTILAGE. :(

Don't imagine there will be a need to pass the scrapple in your direction....

YUM, scrapple! Almost as good as goetta--ever tried that? It's a Cincinnati-Northern KY thing, steel-cut oats with pork scraps, onions and spices. Fry it like sausage. Delicious and relatively healthy, a rare combination in that part of the world. :D

Not to offend anyone who likes 51% meat products but, the only thing I like about McDonalds is the 2-storey McDs built overlooking the Bay and also that it has a life-size statue of Ronald sitting on a bench--which is funny to look at.

I have heard rumor of pictures on the web of people doing things to that statue that would defy laws of nature.

Not that I'd ever look at such things m'self, of course.

Im sure its happened hundreds of times around here. However, once I was going by that McDs and saw two drunks passed out on the bench one in Ronalds lap. Cars honked but didnt stir them, a Constable finally roused them only to find one had overturned the contents in his tummy-into Ronalds lap--then passed out in it.:eek:

I haven't the slightest interest in what is in Mc nuggets, Mc Rib, Mc Wings, Whoppers, Hot dogs, bratwurst, scrapple, etc.

For 71 years now I've followed the old advice, "if it tastes good, eat it." I'm still alive. I'll give the Mc Wings a try. Mc Dogs breakfast burrito and their "Yuppie coffee drinks" really aren't that bad.

WHAT'S IN IT?

I once asked a waitress in Del, what's in scrapple? "the parts of a hog they can't use in sausage" Never figured out exactly what that could be. the pancakes were fine. as for chicken I'll stick to the beaks and claws at KFC. hot dogs are mostly cow bladder. You don't wanna know whats in "meat by products".

Well, I know I'd decidedly in the minority here, but I tried them and didn't like them. They would have been good except they were too spicy! I don't like "hot" food, and it likes me even less...I was taking one bite and then a Tums...one bite and then a Tums. As I said, if it weren't for the spice, I would have liked them. I wish they would come out with a mild version.

As for putting down McDonald's...I live in very small town, and McDonald's is considered fine dining around here!
