is it because they are getting rid of the stuff that does not have the high mark up on it where they over charge people

I would imagine that they're discontinuing the products that the fewest people buy. So, if you have a soft spot for GLEEM toothpaste, or FAIRY cleaning products, you probably should be looking into an alternative.

If they ain't making money on it, they shouldn't be making it.
They are in business to make money.
If they don't make it, that's an opportunity for somebody else to make it.

Could be they sell some of those brands to others rather than just end and bury them.
I would imagine there are many factors involved in such decisions - and productivity versus cost versus profit of each product plays an important role. Could also be they need to increase production of the top brands and rather than build net new plants and adding shipping capacity personnel etc - they are just reducing the number of items produced by a given plant leaving no capacity for a lower performing item.

When I was a kid growing up at Possum Kingdom lake, we bathed in the lake and Ivory was one of the only floaters. I think Dove may have floated too. Oh well, no scrub-a-dub-dub in the lake anymore anyhow .

I live 15 minutes from P&G's hq and never knew they made all those products. I should stick my head out of the rabbit hole more often.

My misses buys what's on sale that she has coupons for. No matter what brand we use it anyway.
Do you think this is a marketing ploy to boost sales?

On some of those products, can you say "marketing ploy" boys and girls? You just know there are some people who will run out and buy every bar of Ivory or some of the other products they can find.

This reminds me of what happened to Twinkies. Start stock loading now so you can sell the products at triple the cost when they're gone.

Yeah . . . Ivory soap and Cascade dish washer detergent are probably mistakes that will live on as well established brand names for the people who acquire them. The rest are pretty forgettable.
Oh, wait . . . Congress will probably pass a law making it impossible for them to stop producing these American Icons.
The same folks who brought you three gallon toilets before the manufactures figured out how to make them work and back-up beepers on construction equipment to drive folks living near active construction sites crazy.

What, no more Bounce?
How am I gonna keep my clothes from getting all static-y in the dryer? Not to mention, how am I gonna live without having to pull suspicious-looking paper items out of the bottoms of my trouser legs at inopportune moments?

Ivory is the only soap I can tolerate - tried some of the other smelly ones through the years but always got an allergic reaction (wife says I'm a hot house orchid.)
Guess I better start stocking up - I still have some shelf space next to my 100W bulbs

Most if not all of these products will not go out of existence. P&G has been doing this for decades now...thinning the herd. Products that have stopped growing sales at an acceptable rate get sold off to other companies who will keep the brand going as long as sales are sufficient to keep it alive. It's just business; nothing personal.

I have allergies to some soap products. I use Dove Sensitive Skin bar soap and several different scent free laundry detergents. These work for me.

This odorless product intended for people with allergies to the usual smelly stuff should take up less room on your shelf.
Admittedly, at over $40 a gallon, this stuff is not cheap. But, it works really well for my wife who is allergic to virtually everything.
We keep a small pump style dispenser of it at each wash basin to refill from the gallon container.
A gallon lasts us about a year. I like it too.

Some of the listed products are made for sale in other countries.
I grew up with Ivory soap, you can put in a sock and hit a brother with it. Hurt and it took a couple days for the mark to show. The soap would flatten really nice.
