ANYBODY HERE TRY THE JACK DANIEL'S SINATRA SELECT??
The fairly new addition to the Jack Daniels Family has been the Sinatra Select but it is very pricy to say the least. At over $200 Bucks a bottle (inc. tax) I would like to find out if it's worth paying the inflated price. My normal drink of choice is Jack Daniels Single Barrel but that's only around $55 a bottle (inc. tax) - so I need to ask you fellas if any here have bought and tried it.

If I could afford 200 bucks a bottle I'd be on the Colt forum.

My wife bought me a bottle for my birthday, but I drink it infrequently. Usually drinking Buffalo Trace, Michters, Eagle Rare, even Kirkland house brand. Tell you what, I'm going to pour myself a glass right now. Maybe one cube. And will report back...

There is a bottle of single malt Scotch from 1840 at the Costco in Scottsdale that can be purchased for $22,999. And NO there isn't an added digit here.
I guess if I hit the lottery!

At $200 it had best be a 25-year old single malt scotch. Would not go that price for that bottle. Maybe an old Barrel House 1 edition JD.

I'd hate to see what it costs in a regular priced store. And are you sure it's a bottle and not warehouse size? If it comes in a 55 gallon drum that's really not that bad a price.

Two fingers of what I'd describe as Snapple iced tea colored liquid in a US Army War College rocks glass (yes I'm an alumnus of the resident Program, 2009). I rinsed and dried the glass to ensure there was no residue from prior washing. Popped in two fresh, rinsed cubes to cool and dilute the whisky a bit. It's marked at 45% alcohol by volume.

Characteristic corn flavor to the whisky. Smooth and lingers at the back of the tongue. Not hot on the palate and has a long finish. The oils are pronounced with the addition of the cubes, need to let them melt a bit and let the temp rise a bit.

I'll suggest the Christmas editions of JD. Bought the last two years, may go back and pick up two I saw on a local shop shelf. A little softer, 49%, good presentation, a step above the current single barrel. I'll go with a known at $50, especially since I had to drop $1k on car repairs last night.

I like to get the 200.00 pesos a bottle cheap bourbons they sell at the little booze-mart in the center of town. I just leave the bottle inside the brown paper bag they give you to carry the bottle home in so that nobody is deceived about the quality.
200.00 bucks a bottle is a little out of my price range. I guess I can't go to the Colt Forum either.

IMO, above-average premium bourbon, but not at the $170+ price. At that price, I'd buy Pappy first.

You can find Pappy? My local store is getting 6, and have 50+ people asking. They will do a lottery from the requests when it shows.

NO: It's $22,999 for a 1840 vintage (re-bottled) 750 ML bottle of single malt Scotch Whiskey.
I would be glad to take a picture of it the next time I'm there if you doubt this.

I gave up looking for Pappy Van Winkle - they never have any in my local haunts.
I've been wanting to get a bottle of the JD Sinatra for a while not but have not as yet brought myself to part with the almost $200 bucks they get for it yet. My Birthday is coming up in a few months so maybe when my kids ask me what I want, ............

I don't want to know how $200.00 whisky taste, I'm afraid I may like it!
My every/any day bourbons are W.L. Weller and a couple of the Evan Williams offerings.
Top shelf for me is Knob Creek Single Barrel 120.

Looking around for a "bargain" and maybe I'll spring for it. So far I've found it on sale for $155 delivered which certainly beats the $220 (inc tax) priced locally. Like the poster Cdog above, I'd almost hate to like it!

After 8 shots of JD Single barrel you wan't know the difference...or care either.
As the late Robin Williams said, "8 shots of Jack Daniels leads to 1 Large Vowel movement"

Thunderbird and MD 20/20 come to mind. $200.00 a bottle because it has "Old Blue Eye's" name on it?? Glad I don't drink.

Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select
It's still pricey at Byron's Liquor Warehouse in Oklahoma City. You can find three bottles of it there for $149.00 each.

Thunder bird and ripple or boones farm wine. Boy that brings back the young and crazy years.
Try some good fresh home made cider from your local farm. Warm it up with a cinnamon stick and serve in a cup with some Jack Daniels. Put another log on the fire and enjoy. On a cold chilly it's this Apple jack that will warm you up.

Too much money for booze. Never did care for Frank Sinatra anyway.
I'm more in the "Lone Star Beer and Bob Wills Music" crowd.

As for the JD Sinatra: Remember it's the same whiskey as the regular black label (actually as all JD except the new rye); same mash bill, distillation, filtration, aging etc.; they just select the barrel. I'm sure there are differences, but differences between $25 and $200? Hmm...
As for Pappy: A legend in danger of becoming a myth. I once was able to do a favor for a friend's business associate and in return found myself invited to a social function way above my usual socio-economic circles; in plain English, I got to hobnob with the rich. There I had the chance to drink Pappy. An excellent bourbon, but that's it. Worth the money, the hype, the waiting lists? Not so much.
This blog has a nice recipe for a substitute Pappy made from two iterations of Weller, from the same distillery that makes Pappy:

Saw the "Sinatra" bottle at the store and had to laugh. I certainly wouldn't pay that much for what clearly is an attempt to appeal to someone's sense of snobbery for a distinctive label. Regular JD #7 has been my go-to drink for 50 years and I guess if its been good enough all along it still is.
