Is it just me or are there others who find it almost impossible to resist? Whenever I go to a party where there is a bowl of peanuts I know I embarrass myself! When I go to Costco I have to avoid the snacks area or I will be dragging home a huge bag of Hoody's in the shell and a large can of Kirkland roasted. I'm serious! I guess there could be worse things to be addicted too, but seriously, I cannot resist peanuts. Even as a kid I would opt for those little bags of Planters over a nickel candy bar. Several years ago I was even buying 50 lb bags of raw runner peanuts from Alabama and roasting them myself.

As I've grown older it has become more and more difficult to keep my weight down and peanuts are THE PROBLEM (for me). Therefore I have had to limit my peanut consumption. But man that is hard to do. Do you know what a serving size of peanuts is...1/4 Cup! Heck that's less than one handful. Sorry for this long rant regarding my personal problems. I just thought that writing about it might help provide me a little extra strength to resist.

I love peanut's in the shell, no salt, when we go down to Va to visit my son, my wife goes to Whitley's and buy's me a big box of peanut's, when they are in the house, I eat them, when they are gone I can go six months without.:)

You have never really eaten good peanuts until you have had good boiled peanuts. (Those things you buy at roadside stands in Georgia are barely palatable.) You have to go in the patch, pull the vines, and pick them off yourself to get truly good boiled peanuts. Also, if your lips don't shrivel up, they aren't salty enough.:D

It would sure stink to have an allergy to them.

You bet...
My daughters are just that.:(
And a friend of my youngest one almost died from eating a cookie with peanutbutter

So i had to stop buying them. Nuts that is..

When we are down that way, we always stop at the Wakefield Peanut Co. & get a few pounds of local grown raw in the shell peanuts. Roast them at home and eat them hot out of the oven!

Hot out of the oven were always mushy for me.
I have to wait until they cool off so they have that nice firm crunchy texture.

Sure do loves me some peanuts! I don't care how they come, I love 'em all!
Roasted Peanuts in the shell (better unsalted).
Peanut butter (crunchy or creamy, but add that little touch of honey like they do now, and it's only slightly more addicting that crack).
Peanut brittle.
Them little peanut log candies.
Peanut butter pie.
Fried Spanish peanuts.
But the BEST of all is boiled peanuts!

Fun peanut fact: 50% of all us domestically-grown peanuts are harvested within 100 miles of Dothan, Alabama!

Any kind of nuts except walnuts, but I really shouldn't eat any of them--diverticulitis.

My fondness for crunchy peanut butter knows no bounds. My favorite dessert is what I call a goobersicle--a tablespoon of crunchy PB followed closely by half a tablespoon of strawberry preserves or grape jam.

Hey, it's health food.

All of the below, I eat most raw. My grandparents called them pinders, I wonder if other parts of the country use that name?

Regarding your fact: The bulk peanuts I used to buy came from Eufala, AL. They were Mr. Mac's from the Reeves Peanut Company. They came raw in a 50 lb burlap bag and I would roast them on cookie sheets in my kitchen oven. They were small round nuts. I guess they were Spanish peanuts and they were great! For me, the shipping costs have made them price prohibitive.

My grandfather got me hooked on salted peanut's in the shell..He would eat the shell and all, and I have that habit as well..:D
I can't think of a nut that I don't care for..
Smoked almonds are addictive..Walnut's are good, but shelling and picking the shells is a pain..
Spanish peanuts are one of my fav's as well..
I guess the only nut from a tree I don't like are acorns..:(

Salted in the shell are the hardest to resist for me.

Those are the ones I feed my squirrels in the back area! I buy them by the 5 lb bags and go through about a bag a month - little more when there is snow on the ground!! Fourteen acres of squirrels can have a good time on peanuts.

These days I prefer Planters Lightly Salted Dry Roasted for eating.

Ok, its off to find the peanuts after reading this thread. Whats wrong with eating 4-6 oz of nuts a day? its the Palo diet rage now days

I love just about all nuts, except the ones in government --:D

The good news is, I heard just the other day, there is now a shot for those who cannot eat, or be around them. :)

Peanuts are simply the gateway nut. I'm guessing I'm not the only one here who looks at a 1# bag of salted in the shell pistachios as a single serving..... Them things is like crack....
