Good grief,Ididnt know the first show actually aired in nineteen sixty-four. I bought the first season of the show last year sometime before Halloween. WM had it for a sawbuck-so couldnt pass it by.

This dvd set also included the fiveteen minute never aired pilot episode. The only characters that were in it that were in the series were: Herman Munster, Grandpa and Marilyn. The kid who was to be Eddie--was horrible--and the lady who looked like Lily --looked more like Carolyn Jones-who played Mrs.Addams on:The Addams Family.

Anyway, this series has NOT--lost anything in fifty years and still funny as hell. Glad first season has my favorite Munsters episode in it--one where Herman plays baseball. Im not saying more on that episode because it would be spoiled.

Of the two Haloween type series--meaning: The Munsters and The Addams Family--The Munsters win hands own. Anyone else here like Munsters more than Addams?

PS,this is the type of thread that should make Sip and Snubby, feel at home. :D

Lily (Yvonne De Carlo September 1, 1922 ) was actually older than Grandpa (Al Lewis April 30, 1923).
A little Munsters trivia for you there...

The Munsters had goofier humor, the Addams Family was a bit (a tiny bit) more subtle. Once Herman and Grandpa got their hot rod they had jumped and shark and were going down hill. The original family car was cool though.

Yeah the Munsters were really cool. The episode where the Hollywood producers are going to make Herman a star is hilarious, them trying to get him to jump out of a window and he keeps coming up with reasons not to, like...where's my motivation! Funny stuff.

My brother gave everybody nicknames. My mother's second husband was "Lurch", and they were "Mr. and Mrs. Lurch". He was a great man, a real second father to me. I could never call him Lurch, but I could refer to them as the Lurches.
