both were good but I liked the Addams Family the best. I don't think either one of them made the transition to color

Actually, the unaired episode was in color but--none of the characters looked right. They had a blue look to them instead of white. I also remember that the two or so Munsters movies--were in color. Those movies are also on DvD. As for Addams Family--nothing in color that im aware of. Also, I THINK both series lasted only two seasons??

The Munsters had goofier humor, the Addams Family was a bit (a tiny bit) more subtle. Once Herman and Grandpa got their hot rod they had jumped and shark and were going down hill. The original family car was cool though.

I just watched that episode last night. The car was a cross between two cars--a Herse and a Hotrod.Lily bought both for Hermans birthday and had a chop-shop combine the two. That was an episode where Herman thought she was pregnant--and when he overheard her say things--naturally thought so--not suspecting she only bought a car. Eddie had a playmate who was staying over because parents going out of town.Playmate brought over a toy mechanical Frankenstein--which Herman thought was the new baby. Paul Lynde--was their family Dr in that episode. shame he died so young because-he is the funniest TV personality ive run across yet.The mere sound of his voice can get a person laughing like a hyena.

Lily Munster was fine ;)

Wasn't Leo the Lip in the baseball show?

She was. I liked her more than Morticia. Im not sure who was in the baseball episode since its been about thirty years since I last saw it. Ill be seeing it by week end.

Adams family fan here. Munsters were overdone IMHO.

Actually, both were but, I guess im just more used to Herman and Grandpa more than Cousin ITT and Lurch. Herman and Grandpa--were on car fifty-four where are you. Which is on DvD and one im looking forward to getting.

I would have loved to have seen them with a series cross-over with both casts. I dont think a more perfect comedy could ever be made.

This thread is leading up to another one--but not what you might think.

The are both.....

Do we have to do a Which was hotter poll?

The are both the hottest.

Early color TV....

Early color TV was pretty bad. They didn't know how to get the colors right when filming/taping, they couldn't transmit/receive them well and TVs were really variable and easy to get out of balance. Football might look great, but Bonanza might be green.:)

The mood of the Addams family.

Anybody acquainted with Charles Addams cartoons know that they were dark, kind of sinister in a creepy Peter Lorre kind of way. I'm more of a Gahan Wilson fan.

Didn't the hem of Morticia's dress move like an octopus when she walked??? I'm not sure if I was seeing things or what?

The Addams had the cooler car

The Munsters hands down.

The Adams had Lurch and Thing.

I don't remember the Adams car though. What was it?

Its been too long. I dont remember what their car looked like?

I remember Pugsley had a mechanical knack, Fester was a character and I got a kick out of the way Lurch would take care of visitor's hats.

Munster's all the way, even with Spot under the stairs.

Munster's had two cars, the Ford/hearse hybrid and the coffin flavored one Grandpa built. Addams had something a bit more run of the mill, looked like a Packard convertible.

BTW and a bit of trivia:
The Munsters Hearse/Hotrod was sold at the "Cars of the Stars Museum" auction in 1985 when the museum closed down in the Chicago area. I was there but I don't remember the selling price.
I have pictures around here somewhere of my wife and I sitting in the original Barris-Batmobile which was sold at this auction as well. If memory serves me correctly it went for $75,000.
Both of these vehicles were in running condition and were driven up to the auction block.

Addams Family (and Morticia) all the way for me.:D
I'd really like to use their interior decorator , but my wife says NO! :(

Just discovered last night on disc two--its an extra but--the episode: Family Portrait--was in color. It LOOKS to me like they colorized it and that it wasnt originally in color--but the TV set is too small and my eyesight sucks--so hard to tell. Anyway, that is in color.

I seem to recall that her dress did indeed move when she walked.Been too long since I saw any Addams Family.
