Just wondering what category most on the forum falls into? I'm not able to hunt anymore due to being handicapped. But still love to shoot. I go to the range as much as I can. But, I have buddies that have huge collections and never shoot them and sure wouldn't hunt with their prized possession's. I guess I'm just a shooter?

And when I look for a newer gun, I want one that is shooter grade. Not a safe queen.

What about the rest of the crowd?

I'm a shooter and a collector. I collect old Mausers and shoot every one of them, even the bring back K98k. Have some nice S&W handguns too but the only thing in the safe I don't shoot is a matching 1916 DWM Luger. I'm saving that for the first trip to the range with the title "RETIRED". :)

I'm a shooter and collector.

I'm not against hunting, but I do it so very rarely, that I could hardly be considered a hunter.

My current and foreseeable work situation regarding vacation pretty much guarantees that I won't be a hunter any time in the future either.

Shooter and Hunter. When I buy, I like to find nearly pristine guns, mostly from collectors, so that they are more likely in great shape. I immediately turn them into shooters though!

I'm a shooter and accumulator. All my firearms are shooter grade.

I don't hunt, but I enjoy the hunting adventures of others.

Shooter and collector here. I shoot or carry most of what I have. There are several that see very little range time, and no carry time at all (like a ANIB K-22 from the early '50's), but the range rotation includes most in the stable..... I do my best to keep them in the condition that they came to me in. Very few were 'new' when I acquired them, but most were in very good to excellent condition.

I was a hunter but not an avid one. Since I really can't hunt anymore I guess I would consider myself a Shooter / Collector!

I am definitely all three...I have an extensive collection of American double shotguns, I love to shoot anything that shoots and I also love to sit out in the woods and watch and wait for an animal to come along. I have been at all three for a long time and these days I do things a little different.
There was a time when I bought every Parker or Lefever I could find for sale. Now it has to be in really good shape. I used to be serious about hunting and shoot every deer I saw, now if it's not a big buck with a nice rack I let it walk. I used to go to the range and blow thru every round I had, now I get back 300-400 yards and lay on a mat and shoot clay skeet on the banks of my gravel pit taking up an entire afternoon to go thru 100 rounds. I used to reload 500 rounds at a time, now I spend half a day loading up 50 rounds for one of my rifles. Funny how things change as you get older, I am 54...30 years ago I could not imagine doing things this way!!!!

Hmm, guess I am a shooter and accumulator along with just plain ole liking to fondle my firearms - clean them, check them, etc. Reloading is a second cousin to the shooter part. Would like to get back to hunting as I am a few months from the R thing and still in good physical shape. Would like to be a true collector but that would require me to spend more money than I would be comfortable with.

Above all else I'm an upland game bird hunter. For over forty years when you walk into my home you will be met by an English Setter or two. If you look at my book shelves you'll find books on dog training, bird hunting and shotguns. If you look in my gun safe ow will find shotguns, mostly side by sides.

As sit here in my office there are empty gun case, some soft case left out from this weeks hunts and fitted hard case stacked here and there. My walls have photos and paintings of bird dogs and game birds. There is a stack of ruffed grouse fans and shotgun shell boxes, some empty some full and some in between.

For years I've planned my life around Fall and bird hunting. Sure I've accumulated a lot of other firearms, mostly Smith & Wesson from the late 1940s through the early 1960s. Some are near new in the box but most are higher condition shooters. I'm much more interested in a good clean, un-fiddled with, high grade shooter than a safe queen. They are fun to find and fun to shoot but I would part with every one before I would part with my favorite side by sides.

I can live without my handguns but life wouldn't be worth much if I couldn't get out in the Fall with a fine side by side and a good dog.

From over the years

Yes I'm bird hunter and a bit of shooter and accumulator.

Shooter and collector. I've only been hunting twice---not against it, just don't care for it. I detest killing unless its for self and love ones protection.

Shooter, Hunter and Collector , in that order. Went bird hunting with my Dad when I was four years old. My job was to stay behind my Dad and carry the game bag. Jumped a foot high every time he shot. Been around the shooting sports all my life, love all aspects of it .

I am a hunter, shooter, collector, and competitor. I shoot metallic silhouette matches all year and a winter small-bore rifle league. I have shot a few NRA pistol bullseye matches also. Lately my hunting has been mostly waterfowl. I don't shoot if I am not going to eat it.

Shooter / Accumulator.

How much I shoot comes and goes. I have guns that haven't been shot.....but just cause I haven't gotten around to it yet.
